I once met a young man from South Africa who told me that it was difficult for a white male like him to find work, because his country was trying to correct itself coming out of apartheid. Although it was unfair to him personally, he wasn't bitter; he told me it was necessary adjustment for his society after decades of systematic oppression. I see the societal need for a lot of progress on gender issues, and I agree that in practice feminism is not always as egalitarian as it portrays itself. Yet I refuse to believe there is an irreconcilable conflict in advocating for both women's rights and men's rights. Do you honestly not see any issues in your society affecting women? Feminism means different things to different people, but it certainly isn't defined by the worst examples you can look up on the internet. We need men's movements and women's movements both.
