It just so happens that some good guys are being hosed right now. Fact is that you have your degree and some experience. I recommend finding somewhere that appreciates those things. It's not fair, but it's what's what. Imo, in our field, there's not really an advantage to getting a masters. I just got a staff engineering job that requires a PhD +8yr exp. I just got a job offer at a company on the bleeding edge of technology and while I have the boxes checked, I can't help but feel my looks helped me. As with everything in the past. Being a tall, good-looking man has hurt me at times, but it's usually been a benefit. I've had the same concerns about many individuals, and it's usually been men. This is probably because I too am in engineering and it's a male saturated profession. There's always some that fail upwards because the doers are too vital where they are.
