A lot of these arguments of 'poor-me' didn't get the promoting, don't show us much of the interpersonal factors in the decision making. It just so happens that some good guys are being hosed right now. Fact is that you have your degree and some experience. I recommend finding somewhere that appreciates those things. It's not fair, but it's what's what. Imo, in our field, there's not really an advantage to getting a masters. I just got a staff engineering job that requires a PhD +8yr exp. I just got a job offer at a company on the bleeding edge of technology and while I have the boxes checked, I can't help but feel my looks helped me. As with everything in the past. Being a tall, good-looking man has hurt me at times, but it's usually been a benefit.
