I've been through shit so I probably won't connect very deeply with someone who hasn't. But the kind of person he is and the way he treats not only me, but other people, is absolutely the most important characteristic in someone I date. Attraction is so subjective. I find him attractive, but many of my friends don't really. Looks also change over time. Being a good person will keep the relationship alive regardless of everything else. Do I like tall good looking dudes? Sure. If I'm just looking …

For what it's worth, I'm hot. That's what others communicate to me, anyway. I'm also fit, and have a master's and a good job. I've been going out with a lot of people over the last year and a half of being single, and here's a description of the person I'm seeing currently: Works at a restaurant as a cook, no formal higher education, skinny, around 5'6", divorced. Ex addict. He's the best person I've met so far - why? He's a great communicator, positive and encouraging, open minded, gentle, and …

Okay and what would happen if everyone in the world took this advice and went out into the dating scene looking to buy and not sell? Everyone would just have to invest in masturbators I guess

YEP. Manipulation at its finest. A real beta move. A true alpha would want a equal exchange of energy, not power battles.

Because some people use sex to raise their self-esteem, instead of desiring a genuine connection with someone

For freaking real. This post is so disgusting. Even if all you're looking for is a sexual relationship, why does it always have to be games? Just be a human. The best sex and the best relationships come from a mutual and equal exchange of energy. This dude sounds like he went from one end of the spectrum to the other. Insecure to a douche.

Why not both? Aren't relationships, even if just sexual ones, supposed to be equal in energy?

Only like 2 months. Definitely good riddance. Good luck to his future wife!

Oh I definitely told him. He said he didn't want to go down on me because he's had "bad experiences" with girls not tasting or smelling very good. I told him the only feedback I've ever gotten was that I tasted really good, and I wanted him to give it a shot. Then he ghosted me.

That sounds great honestly but I'm just not hopeful that that person exists. 33 years and plenty of partners and none of them have come close to that description

I agree. Someone I was dating recently literally did none of this and had the audacity to ask if I came. It seemed more out of insecurity than anything else, but like... We're all just trying to have a good time here!

I agree with you thoughts on some differences between healthy and dysfunctional relationships. When I met him I felt deeply in love with the person he was. From the first date it felt easy. We were having amazing sex, I felt extremely emotionally connected to him, he verbalized his feelings and I felt him present with me. I love the ways he pushed me to grow, how we had similar interests like art, but each had our own way of expressing it. I liked how he laughed at my jokes, and could build on t…

THANK YOU. I loved my ex so so so much but I lost my attraction to him as a result of things he had full control over, and that's what made it hurt the most. My ex would cry, "I don't feel sexually desired". Over the course of six years, I had to remind him to shower. I had to remind him to brush his teeth. I had to remind him to clean up after himself. He stopped putting effort into my orgasm and acted like it was a chore. He stopped coming up with dates to take me on, or taking any initiative …

Before you went home with her, she said she would like to continue hanging out but didn’t want to have sex. So you went with her, and still expected sex? What?? I mean she literally told you what was up. By trying to make an advance twice after she already said no, you probably made her feel disrespected and therefore she might not be up for seeing you again. If she is, and you want to spend more time with her, go for it. If you were looking for a hookup and nothing more, that’s fine but you pic…
