When did this happen in history?

I was half joking. Any self respecting individual would find coddling and unnecessary victimhood condescending. But let's not be blind to the truth of the scope of abuse of such leniency that is extended to women. Men's issues, this very subreddit exists because of many women taking advantage of this dynamic.

And it is a trend these days! One of the ickiest ones I've seen at that! A mom grooming her son to know how to treat his future wife screams repressed incest. Also like you pointed out the son is never taught how he should expect the same level of respect from his wife. The sexism is so gross that there would be outcry if a dad did the same for example, teaching his daughter how to cook and clean so that she can treat her future husband better.

Idk man, the last sentence makes the second option sound like a way better deal than the first lmao.

Hi. Could you give some examples of the feminist myths that are taught to therapy/psychology students?
/r/MensRights23/09/24 12:47 PM

One of the reasons is, and please bear with me here, but in my experience between the sexes I've actually seen it is women that TRULY hate the other sex. I do not believe men, as a whole, hate women. With unjust power they end up being condescending and dismissive towards women (which is what the feminist complaint is basically all about), but women are absolutely antagonistic to the average man if they don't have some kind of personal/social connection with them. And if you absolutely need one …

Yes of course. Absolutely agree with you there, obviously. Just wish more men were equipped with that mindset and we lived in a society that facilitated this. Until then, we can only help ourselves! To everyone who's reading, keep that chin up bro!

I wasn't specifically referring to you, but average men can't afford this 'refuse any woman who don't treat you like a king' advice. Most of us have adverse childhood conditioning, an unfavorable society where we can't find the right person, etc. Like i said, it's more complicated than a good ol' fashioned get yo'self up by yer bootstraps and go live in the wilderness advice.

Exactly. This exposes the folly of simple headed solutions championed my so many internet tough guys 'just don't marry bro'.. Men's issues in the current times are many pronged and is so complex in so many ways

No, I disagree. Any oral sex art that is supposed to be aesthetic and acceptable to an audience almost always depicts cunninglus, while blowjob is still largely seen as dirty and something reserved for the back alleys. I've seen the most blatant depiction of this in the comment section of a Facebook post i once saw, where the bride gave a pose of giving a blowjob to the groom for a unique wedding photoshoot. While the idea wasn't to my taste personally, I couldn't avoid noticing the large majori…

Well at least they admit femcels exist. That's progress I guess lol.
/r/MensRights24/08/22 02:06 PM

No. No they aren't. Women passing off crude comments on men are barely taken seriously. I say this as a man whose dressing style has been crassly commented on by a woman superior to me in the workplace hierarchy, and when talking about it with other people she even described it as 'teasing' me and nobody bat an eye. The situation reversed wouldn't have been tolerated at all, or at the very least, would've made the male superior look very weird in front of people.
/r/MensRights24/08/22 02:04 PM

This is blatant lying. Married men in India commit suicide twice at the rate of married women. The statistics isn't even that hard to find.

This is a good point. We're forgetting men who do self harm are way more likely to keep it a secret because it's supposedly a 'women's problem' and therefore much less likely to seek medical attention unless it is absolutely critical (at which point they don't have a say anymore).

She literally goes around calling anyone who disagrees with her 'scrotes'. If you go down the thread in the OP you'd see my hilarious exchange with her where she literally says 'only men boil women down to their genitals' and 'most men are scrotes' in a single post. I decided not to further engage with her (and guess what, that made her call me a 'scrote' too lmao) for the sake of my sanity. Yes. Notwithstanding the fact that men aren't excluded from that industry, but if you're going to do the mental gymnastics of portraying the beauty industry as being predatory towards women, you'd also have to infer the societal expectation that is placed on men to be the romantic pursuer, and thereby every single material thing men collect to impress women and the industries that manufacture them to also be predatory towards men in the sense that they make men 'feel incomplete' unless they've g…

OP, I really admire you for actually speaking up instead of keeping the complaining limited to online discussions which is what a lot of us do. You're an assertive person who deserves justice because of what you do, not because of what you are. I wish you all the success in the world!

Yes. Calling people 'scrotes' tells me all I need to know about you as a person. Forget name calling, he didn't even insult you. Did he call you an ovarian or whatever? It's okay to disagree with whatever he said, but diluting down a person's existence to their genitals and name calling them on it, and you believe you're the rational person in this convo?

There is an entire body positivity movement with billions of dollar of funding geared towards mostly women , on the contrary one of the most popular current music videos on YouTube consistently in the top trending list with millions of view is literally titled 'big dick energy' with a woman portrayed as perfect and a group of physically and financially objectified men serving her. It's insane how much selective blindness the society engages in to not see the blatant level of hypocrisy.

The most hopeful sentence: "this may set a precedence". I dearly hope it does. This is the biggest elephant in the room as far as legal oppression of men goes in India.

It's so intriguing to see so many feminists from the 80's, the 'OG' ones, for lack of a better term, change their stance on the modern version of the movement. Really puts into perspective how much the movement has devolved and spiraled into hatefulness and perpetuating it's own brand of oppression. I just wanted to thank you for doing your part in making this world a better place back in the 20th century when things were very different, and staying so open minded that you can point out flaws in…

Then imagine how we feel when the entire popular culture takes part in the body shaming instead of a few people in our personal lives. One of the topmost songs in YouTube right now is literally titled "Big Dick Energy", and its entire theme is sexually and financially objectifying men, as expected.

Just realise you don't represent an entire gender and what other people's experience has been with that gender. Don't try to invalidate men's experience of feeling uncomfortable seeing women wearing inappropriate attire (according to the context), or give yourself a mental pat in the back by saying you individually refrain from such action. There ARE women who do this, and men's experience with women is varied, and men deserve to voice them without being labelled with the ocean of pejoratives th…

This is put into words what I've always intuitively felt. An all women's circle is far less welcoming to a man than the other way around, and I believe it comes from the female bias of viewing ordinary men as the dangerous 'other' until they do something to prove otherwise. I've also seen women's only circle which I have been a part of objectify men (in whatever way) a lot more than men only circles doing the same to women, especially when a woman is present. I get really envious to see women fl…

Seriously, do you lack reading comprehension skills? Did you seriously not see the comments that make insane mental gymnastics to camouflage the fact that the woman blatantly lied to OP over YEARS? This would've been a different story if the woman was transparent about her sexual history to the man and he accepted her despite that, but he made it very clear she 'drove it home' regarding her never giving a BJ and it's only now he found out she was lying and she actually gave BJs, in public bathro…

You do realise the fetish also goes the other way around, and both of them should be okay if they're consensual and no one gets to blackmail another person? It's not that hard, really.

This is something that I've always intuitively understood, women look out for other women way more than men look out for other men. There's a very significant in group bias women display even in regular, daily lives and it's great to see it put in quantitative form.

Thank you for being honest. The best thing to do is to be aware of our own biases no matter how much we try to fool ourselves with the guise of 'non biasedness' and course correct if necessary. I have seen so much of gross victim blaming in this sub and as well as in irl discussions that I've had with my friends today regarding this case which never would have been considered if the 11 years old minor was a girl instead, so I thought of explicitly pointing the bias out. Thank you, and have a goo…

I went through it. It is laid out very clearly in the article it self. As if I needed more of the bitter taste in my mouth that has been there since I read the OP news today. Update: I checked from different sources, POCSO act only seem to apply for an adult offender against a minor. So I'm not sure about the veracity of the article.

Thank you! This is exactly, EXACTLY what I've been trying to point out this to my friends that I've discussed this with today (I'm from India) and even people from here. If we in this subreddit can't see how the mere entertainment of the possibility of the minor participant with a significant age gap to be the perpetrator of the sexual assault is problematic then we can't blame the discriminatory societal attitude that makes this GROSS miscarriage of justice to take place in the first place, bec…

Thank you. Then you see why it's a problematic attitude to consider the possibility of the minor participant with a significant age gap to be the initiator of the sexual act. In fact if you notice my last sentence in the previous comment, this default response of assuming the person with penis to be the perpetrator is the exact sentiment that allowed this miscarriage of justice to take place, victimizing the boy leading to his arrest simply because of his gender. In fact, the details of the case…

I invite you to consider a scenario, if this had been the case of a guy, in his late teens, who had sex with a 11 years old girl, would you have considered the possibility of the pre teen girl sexually assaulting the guy instead?
/r/MensRights22/04/22 05:35 PM
8

That is not the scenario that I asked. If the news had been a guy in his late teens having sex with a 11 years old girl, would you have been a but quicker to label that coercion? (As you should have, in my opinion. An 11 years old is NOT mature enough to sufficiently consent to a sexual act)

I'm going to reiterate what I said in a comment as a reply to one of the posters here. As an Indian and being around a lot of 11 years old boy when I was the age I can say the balance of probability is not that a 11 years old boy is physically imposing enough to force a late teens girl to do something completely out of her will. The greater probability what exactly happened though is, the girl in the late stages of her puberty wanted to try something sexual and invited the boy, and the boy not h…

I'm from India. And being around a lot of 12 years old Indian boys I can tell you balance of probability is he isn't physically imposing enough to coerce a girl about to come out of her teen years to do something completely against her will (we're taking about India, not African American people for example who are larger and have a significant height and weight difference than the average Indian even before puberty). The more likely scenario is, which is probably exactly what happened, is that t…

/r/MensRights11/04/22 09:26 PM

Let's take another, could you reply to the gender justice gap as posted above where it was found men are sentenced harsher than women committing same crime?
/r/MensRights11/04/22 09:23 PM

This. I honestly believe this is the biggest linguistic defense a man can have against a vitriolic woman. Women's aggression almost always takes form in reputation destruction through social shaming, so calling it out right of the bat in explicit terms is the equivalent of parrying a man's blow and a swift punch back. It makes it clear you're aware of what exactly is going on in the situation under the hood and would have none of it. I wish more men knew about this.
/r/MensRights11/04/22 09:11 PM

Are you sure your claim that girls get arrested for rape more frequently than boys is consistent with reality? It's important to have the clarity to separate anecdotal experience from the broader world.

This is what a lot of men should do. Be honest about how your company treats you and speak about t it (even if anonymously). I personally believe forced diversity to be a socially approved bigotry, but unless the corporates see a pushback, no one will be willing to do something about it since the sympathy by default will always be with the women. Funny, I may have to delete this post later as this ID is kinda tied with my corporate identity.

Lmao so the woman yelling rapist with a premeditated agenda doesn't count? The original conversation was about false rape accusations as a whole, not a SPECIFIC way false rape accusations can (and do) happen, but I guess you missed that part. I guess now that you're entering the domain of exact semantics the conversation has served its purpose and would only go in circles from here, so I'll take my leave. False rape cases and actual rape cases both are a huge problem in India, and the fact the f…

You made a far more definite assertion than that in your original comment. "But the chances of a woman yelling rapist are MUCH LESSER than chances of a man attempting rape" I was replying to this assertion specifically. There's no way to make such a DEFINITE assertion like this in a country like India, where so much diversity (economical, class, religious and on) is at play that gender becomes just one of the factors. Both rape cases and false rape cases need their own space in the mainstream co…

You assertion was that false rape cases aren't more prevalent than actual rape cases. Now there definitely are a lot of rape cases that go unreported, I just wanted to show the statistics that your categorical declaration was false and the reality is a lot murkier as being admitted by State High Court judges themselves. I will donate to a charity this month that is being set up to fight prevalent false accusations that plague men in India. It's honestly inspiring.

Please take care of your mental health first of all. To challenge the social status quo and bringing in a much needed change always comes with extreme backlash. Honestly it baffles me too how women can be so vitriolic against the simple proposition of giving proper justice to male victims of rape, although I have similar experience seeing feminists successfully nullifying any attempt to make rape laws gender neutral via organized protests in my country. It sucks to hear the petition got rejected…

It's funny how I come across the same discussion themes. I was talking to some people on a YouTube video that deconstructed the manic pixie dream girl trope and argued why 'men didn't deserve them', and I tried to point out the female expectation of a 'strong, silent hero' who doesn't burden the society with his emotions (that is, he isn't allowed to be a human with his own problems, as you say, but at the same time is expected to be several notches more capable than the average man so that he i…

Amazing how I was thinking about this just today. What you say is definitely true, and another big contributor I think is the demonisation of male sexuality and men in general. A middle aged single man's plight is exactly similar to that of a young man's, they are seen to be accountable to none, therefore society treats them to be a potential threat. In this sense the companionship of a woman gives a man social validation when he grows old, he's seen to be a socially integrated individual accoun…

Hi u/debestbabygirlll. I just wanted to tell you from personal experience it is very rare so see such a degree of pure whole hearted support for men that doesn't come from the regular 'men has it bad, but women has it worse' perspective, even rarer from a woman. Here's what I believe. The condition that toxic masculinity describes is absolutely real, and it definitely harms men. However the female counterpart is called 'internalized misogyny' which as a phrase is more unequivocal in rightfully portraying the women taking part in it to be victims as well. However toxic masculinity doesn't have the same connotation and instead of extending the same degree of understanding to men, it panders to the old feminist gaslighting 'patriarchy hurts men TOO' rhetor…

I did a search for that, refreshingly the google search results are discussed in gender neutral terms and the associated pictures actually feature more men receiving a massage than women (which was pretty surprising since women's pleasure are generally valued over men's pleasure in sexual acts, especially in the mainstream). I wonder why you say women's tantra massage is legal while the men's version is illegal.

Men can't financially abort either. Once conception is done the man has zero rights to say what happens to a fetus. In contrast in pro-choice places women can choose to abort it OR keep it. And in case she keeps it, the man is legally obliged to financially support the woman's choice for 18 years. I'm baffled how more people don't see how outrageously little (well, literally zero) reproductive rights men actually have whenever the topic of abortion comes up.

Well I doubt it's only in India. Just a few threads above I read about Joe Biden's relief program in the US to restaurant owners which gives priority to women, minorities and veterans again without any consideration to their actual financial situation. Again an aid that would qualify a man only if he's married and applies through his wife, the single man is quietly discriminated against. I think examples like these are abundant pretty much all over the world.

I can't help but point out the discrimination faced by single men in terms of government policies as well. I'm from India, and here there are various schemes in place that advantage a woman on different facets of major life decisions. For example, home loans for women have reduced interest rates, stamp duty rates are less for women in some states, and over 45 years of age women are given priority during applying for adoption of a child, and single men in our country cannot adopt a girl child no …

There are other, subtler discriminations in place in favor for women in India. The fees for govt exams for women are reduced without any consideration to the actual financial background of the family, IT industries too employ diversity hirings in which they select from pools of women only candidates in job portals. Various govt schemes advantage women, including reduced home loan rate and slashed stamp duty rate, again without any consideration to the actual financial background. And on the grou…

Thing is, I actually care about the woman so I would actually pray that doesn't happen. Doesn't mean I don't recognise the inherent unfairness in that entire process though.

I have a friend who was recently hired in a cloud developer role in Teradata due to diversity hiring. She admits it herself that she was hired more because of her gender than her competency. Posts like these really leave a bad taste in my mouth.

Do you have any link to such studies? I have heard of female teachers prefering little girls but never saw any study being done proving men are less biased in an work environment.

I've always intuitively thought this browsing any relationship advice related community. Great to see some quantifiable research was done on this.

I'm going to offer a perspective that may sound too hopeful, but nonetheless may be true in this (slowly) changing times. Male rape survivors are not as often easily disregarded like in the past. There are mainstream articles, popular Youtube Videos, even AskReddit discussions right here that focus on male rape survivors and encourage them to come out, share their stories and if possible, legally confront their abuser. The Internet doesn't exist in a bubble. Of course you sharing your story woul…

Thanks. I have no intention of brigading either. Just a polite query asking for reasonability for such a ban. I hope to get nothing out of it but silently accepting it doesn't sit well with me personally.

Something tells me this incident is from India. Have experienced this personally myself, where I was obliged to take my shirt off and examined by a female nurse to receive a medical report that I needed for my job.

I haven't, although I have heard of it. The last time I posted in offmychest was an year ago and I was nothing but polite and genuinely tried to help people out there, even connected with a fellow user since we saw each other as kind human beings and decided to be internet friends for a while. With this being the context such a blanket political ban without even checking my post history on that sub is mind-boggling.

I don't want to falsely give off any brigading vibe when the general consensus against this sub already seems to be quite biased, but thank you my friend. I'll let you guys know here if they mods respond with anything that is qualified for a proper update.

I will definitely send a detailed, polite query at least questioning the reasonability for such a blanket ban. Practically, I don't hope for the ban to be lifted, but not questioning the unfairness would mean me supporting the imposed inequality, which is not something I stand for. Thank you!

Please provide me the ruling where the last case decision was overruled. It's hurting my sanity to be living in this country where this level of gross human rights violation can be done by a court, by a woman judge no less!

I fully support the sentiment of this thread. Sexism against men is propagated almost equally by both sides of the political spectrum. The only way to talk about men is to reject the political dichotomy altogether and specifically make talking about men the main agenda, as it should be.

As a straight person, I never thought about the lack of a dominant partner in the gay dating circle. But now that I think about it it makes a lot of sense. Damn, just shows how vastly different other people's lived experiences can be depending on a few different parameters.

Mate, in my experience, especially in third world countries there is always a stark difference between media portrayal and the ground reality especially when it comes to gender politics. In these countries almost always a peculiar gender dynamics exists where a section of the population vehemently opposes any progressive idea, and to counterbalance them the 'marginalized' sections are often offered significant substantial privileges over the rest of the population which can rightly be argued as …

Oh okay. Still punishing a possibly innocent man to recover your public image is an absolutely criminal act in itself in my opinion. I have to mention I like the style of TimesOfIndia's reporting here as they surprisingly wanted to bring context into the ruling and not witch hunt based on an out of context excerpt of the sentence from the Court. Pretty rare as far as Indian media is concerned.

My God! So the actual case was the age old Indian "girl has sex with boy, girl doesn't want to break up, girl files rape charges on the boy time force him to marry her." And since the boy later didn't want to marry the girl, the bench asked the boy if he was ready to which was totally taken out of context by the media. As screwed as that scenario is, now because of the bad flak, they punish a genuinely innocent man just to make themselves look better. Is it just me or the level of miscarriage of…

It depends on the email security policy of the company. A lot of times emails sent from an external domain would be filtered and blocked by perimeter security devices. And using the internal mail system would obviously leave easily traceable logs on the mail server even if there is some way to send the mail so that the senders name doesn't show up on the receivers' mail clients. Even with this being the case, sending a well drafted mail from an external domain seems to me the safest and most rea…

Never, NEVER contact an HR if you're going against the company's interest! They get paid by the company, not you. They're not incentivized to defend you over the company.
