I was literally in the hospital last year and my husband told me he missed “all the things I do” at home. Not me. All the things I do. I’m on this sub to help develop myself personally and because doing some cursory reading around it made me see red flags in my relationship, we’ll see if this marriage lasts. 🙃

He was born under apartheid in South Africa, there may be some internalized things going on. His book is called Born a Crime because his parents’ relationship was illegal.

He’s spoken in the past about his struggles with Borderline Personality Disorder. While he seems to acknowledge his issues and is actively in treatment, one of the symptoms is intense fear of abandonment and being alone. I would hazard a guess that he seeks out women fresh out of relationships who themselves may be feeling abandoned and desperate for someone to cling to in hopes that they’ll be just as clingy and therefore more prone to sticking around. If that’s the case, it’s definitely worris…

I agree 100%. I gave up makeup at the beginning of the pandemic and started really questioning who I was doing it for (spoiler: it wasn’t me). I also quit highlighting my hair because again, who benefits from that?! NOT ME!

I am doing the hard work of going to therapy and confronting my chronically low self esteem. I’m working hard to learn to set boundaries and recognize when my boundaries aren’t being respected.
