I ran into a co-worker from 3 years ago in the grocery this weekend, and we caught up. It helped, my now "grocery aisle summary" is she gave up, I was the only one working to hold us together, and it was too much. There's more to it obviously but I could write paragraphs as to each side's story, but you'd spend 20 minutes reading it and my friend's ice cream would melt. I'll be the bad guy to her family, she's the bad guy to mine. At some point it doesn't matter anymore.

Sorry, been here a few weeks and still learning the lingo, what does AP stand for? That's good to hear it hurts less. We recently separated a month before our 3 year anniversary. My birthday was a month before, I expressed how stale it was with no affection or intimacy and her only affection given was a gift card and that I didn't know what to get her for her upcoming birthday and anniversary when we were so distant. While trying to reach an agreement for filing in that time I kept no contact on…

Thanks, first week always sucks. Past life I was into bodybuilding and have a good routine and know my macro needs and feel like even at 40 I'm hyper responsive to workouts and diet. 90 days I can transform my physique pretty quickly. It's just the mental side of 3 weeks of building back the habit and the physical side of dealing with delayed onset muscle soreness, lol.

lol definitely going to be guarded in the future. No divorces on my side of the family, rampant on hers, guess this is why it hurts so much, feels like I failed my whole family. To her side, this was probably a regular week, hell, has probably been another divorce during our 10 week separation they're talking about now.

Of the subreddits Divorce, Divorced Dads, Divorce Men, Divorce Women seems odd, is it because its private? 8K followers, more than Divorce Men, yet the last post was 4 years ago.

Huh, "the idea that the divorce of a close friend or family member can increase the likelihood of divorce for others." My STBX wife is a child of divorce, her father remarried 4 times, her stepfather's parents divorced, her sister divorced, for her brother's wife this is her 2nd marriage, aunts and uncles have numerous divorces... guess I shouldn't feel so bad that I couldn't make it work, lol.

Thank you. I don't want to derail OP's expression and openness. My situation's a bit different not being the bio father. I don't know if I'll have the opportunity to express that love, I wrote something last night to get out of my head here. I have and always loved our daughter. I want to support her but worry I won't be able to until she reaches out to me at 18 if she ever does. https://www.reddit.com/r/DivorcedDads/comments/1g0ca5z/coping_is_becoming_harder/

This. I've had nightmares of my STBX wife screaming at me, of our daughter saying she hates me. Its exhausting, but it's not reality it's your fears running wild. With so many unanswered questions it's hard to process in an Occam's razor minset, that the simplest solution is probably the best one. Why is my STBX wife refusing to let me see our daughter in the process? Is she pregnant and hiding it, has she been seeing someone else, is she seeing someone now and doesn't want our little one to tel…

A friend survived cancer as a kid and as a result of all the chemo could puke on command in college. I feel like I can cry on command with how much I've done the past 10 weeks, haha. It's healthy, you're going to have to feel these things to move on from them. Masking, pushing them down, altering your state to not feel them will do little for your healing. It's hard to plan when to feel them or set a time limit, and you are 100% given permission to feel it all. Wallowing all day is exhausting, i…

I agree, when my STBX wife and I started dating she appreciated me paying but mentioned she was comfortable splitting, she had unhealthy relationships previously where everything was transactional, if they did something nice for her, they'd expect sex. Some women at first might be anxious with this as well. As we got more comfortable it was whoever's idea is what for that date to pay. Then married it was every other outing we'd switch who was paying.

I asked for what I wanted, didn't get it, and it was hardly a compromise, more of a kick in the nuts. The only thing she changed her stance on was adding $500, lol. I was asking for half community property essentially, but we agreed to be civil and try to reach an agreement first before costing each other a ton of money with attorneys and not go after retirements. We really only had some savings to split from monetary wedding gifts and what we've been putting away for a house. Both cars paid off…

This is great to hear! I am so happy to hear you found this. I love stand up comedy, always thought about making a few minutes for an open mic night. I had an evening recently where I took a picture from my apartment bedroom window of the fall colors and sent it to my sister that I like it and got a bunch of hearts and crying emojis that she was so happy I was seeing value in small things. I was laying on the inflatable mattress she left when I received it and was crying but also found humor in …

40M here. I'd call it stage fright, anxious, in your head, wanting so hard to please them. I had the same issue when I first started dating my STBX wife. Even went to urgent care lol (was hoping for some pills or something). Realized it was from not dating for 6 years before we met and having an unhealthy relationship with porn then. Sex had become a screen to me, it took a few sessions and building trust to perform better. Focusing on acts that turned me on kept me risen. Then I could turn off …

Advice for easy cheap healthy meals? I was a gym rat for years, got out of it, gained bad weight, lost it, gained it back while the marriage crumbled and our separation and want to lose weight again. I know how to do a healthy calorie deficit. I'm in an apartment now slowly building up kitchenware. It's just hard when finances are squeezed and it takes a lot of energy to do to simple tasks. Previous weight loss go-to meals were: Breakfast: black coffee, a few eggs and blueberries. Lunch: I'd mea…
