I see. I thought the whole point of incel was that it was “involuntary” meaning not by choice. But I think what I’m hearing from you is that any guy who isn’t having sex is considered an incel, no matter what the reason. Which is just people making an asshole assumption and being judgey. Which isn’t cool no matter what the case.

Thanks for clarifying. I would have thought it was an offensive thing to say, but I read somewhere that some guys self-identify as incels. Is that incorrect? Or is it kind of like how "sluts" call themselves sluts to reclaim the insult and make it a positive thing? EDIT: I also read that some women self-identify as incels, but that it's called femcel? idk. it all actually seems kind of silly and not very nice, imo.

declaring a person untrustworthy because of their chromosomes is the very definition of sexism. 🙌 Beautifully said. But claiming that women are simply incapable isn't exactly going to encourage them to try, is it? This goes both ways. Men need to be encouraged and lifted up too - not put down. Anyone who is put down will generally just stay down after being told they suck long enough.... We could ALL be reminded of this whenever we try to make generalizations, myself included. Love your entire r…

Genuine question, because I honestly didn't know what an "incel" was until a few days ago - what is your definition of incel? Is it purely being celibate, or is it being celibate and blaming women for it? I'm trying to understand because I hear a lot of talk about incels and I don't really know what people are actually saying. Do men self-identify as incels? Or is it a label given by others that you think is unfair/invalid?

You just haven't met the right woman yet. Many people disappoint, men and women both. But there are people out there who will surprise you. My ex (who wanted to break up because he didn't like me for me, only liked what I could give him) - never knew what it felt like to be accepted and supported until he met me. I'm not saying I'm special, but I'm just saying he and I wanted different things out of our relationship. He happened to be the man, and I happened to be the woman.

I agree with you that society in general doesn't know how to handle a man expressing his emotions. I also think society does a poor job at teaching/enabling men to express their emotions. But, I also think it's not ok for a woman to react emotionally and be toxic about it. Women don't get a pass for bad behavior in my opinion just because they're "supposed" to be emotional, or whatever. Emotions are responsive and fleeting. Logic and reason are grounded in reality. Everyone is entitled to feel t…

Also - what do you mean by women aren't aware of their own mortality? I don't understand this. Isn't being aware of ones mortality basically just a human thing? Not a gender thing? I also think whether or not someone is short-sighted is largely based on many factors. Again, not gender driven.

That's an interesting perspective, and I certainly can't comment on what it's like to be a man. I do know that in all 3 of my romantic relationships, I was more committed and loyal than all my partners. I've never cheated, but have been cheated on. And I've committed (and meant it) to lifelong partnership only to be dumped by someone (two people) who made the same commitment. So I can't personally relate to your generalization. However, I can totally appreciate that it's your experience and beli…

TL:DR - I’m 36F and I’d like to understand the motives the OP is referring to. Not because I’m looking to pick a fight, but because I’m genuinely curious. I also feel like I can relate to a lot of the sentiments of the OP, so I wonder how that fits in with “men want this, women want that.” Men and women are all people, and we all deserve to be treated with respect. It’s NOT ok to man-hate, and it’s unfortunate that men are getting “picked on” so much right now. Love is a fallacy that we can lean…

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
