I filed. Made much more. Took it in the shorts, but have less stress in my life because I don’t feel like I have the whole family on my shoulders. Kids (11/13). Took it well at first but not after. Still sorting through things. I lost a lot of money, but worth it

In my state, the longer you’re married the more the person making more money has to pay the other. Do your thing, let her worry about divorce. If she wait longer she pays more. At least where I am at.

Then string it out. She’ll have to pay you more…depending the difference in income. I make a lot more than my ex and I wish I would have made the decision to leave sooner

Go talk to an atty and ask these questions. If you make more, the longer you wait the more it will cost you.

Therapists aren’t trying to fix things. They are trying to get you to come back for another session. They don’t want to make either side mad. In my case, multiple therapists would say “what’s the problem”, then wife and I would argue. We do t need to pay a $35 co-pay and take time off of work to fight. We can do that on our own.

Mortgage company said I can request to take my wife off the mortgage if I can keep paying. Same interest rate. Am I missing something? I’ll pay fees but this is literally what I wanted.

You should do therapy before going straight to divorce. She isn’t the only one in the relationship. You may need to make changes too.

I was in the same boat. I filed. I don’t regret it. But you might want to look for other opinions. This place is sometimes an echo chamber. Find a couples therapist that works for you two. They aren’t all the same and many are not good. There is such a thing as discernment counseling that focuses on figuring out if the marriage can be saved.

Thanks for all the thoughts and comments. I worry this place is an echo chamber sometimes but I am glad others have gone through this and have perspective.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
