It was my mistake to believe the people in this thread when I was told pricking was a harmless ritual practice, it's clear from what you have liked that the 4 categorizations exist to describe damage for the purpose of numbing the genitalia. Prick? Like with a needle? Honestly not heard of this before. I think doctors that do that in the US should still go to prison, they should be in prison next to the doctors that perform male circumcision. IDK maybe there needs to be clearer delineation between FGM and female circumcision. A prick with a needle is not equipment to cutting the whole thing out.

If I decide to group FGM with things that are technically FGM if looked at though a very specific and abstract lense then I also have to group things that are not circumcision as circumcision? That strikes me as extremely poor reasoning, if I say point out that I don't group FGM and things that are only technically FGM if looked at through a specific and abstract lense your reasoning would completely fall apart? It's kind of gross to compare FGM to circumcision. They are both bad but FGM involves cutting out the clitoris. That's closer to cutting the whole dick off.
