6 month old was fussing on her floor mat while I was making husband some eggs. Put her on my hip while I finished his breakfast and realized that I actually felt like a real mom. I am so grateful for those moments and realizations.

First time mom to a beautiful 6 month baby girl. We had a rough start and end to pregnancy with my health, but all is well now. Current struggle is the 6 month sleep regression. I love seeing her develop new skills and reach milestones. I just wish it didn't come at the cost of sleep! We're also getting fitted for a cranial helmet to correct a significant flat spot and I'm trying to decide if I want to personalize the helmet or not. Motherhood has been a very bumpy transition for me and my marri…

I'm trying to decide how long to give myself before I go to the doctor to have my hormones checked. I'm 6 months PP and I know hormone changes can occur up to a year PP. I don't have any significant symptoms, but I really do not feel like myself (like I can't keep up). Baby has been sleeping well so it's not really an issue of sleep. I just feel so sluggish and like my brain is behind on everything. Maybe it's just mental exhaustion, but I do think I need to talk to someone eventually. ETA: My i…

I have been so irrationally emotional lately. I know part of it is postpartum hormones, but I firmly believe an even bigger part is me coming face-to-face with myself. I don't think I really understood the lie of feminism until I became a mother and a homemaker. Like, I understood it intellectually but it wasn't until I became a mother that I was like "Oh, now it's hitting me on an emotional level and I FEEL it hardcore." I'm beginning to unravel so much of the indoctrination I experienced when …

I cannot wait until fall gets here. The heat in Texas is awful and I'm starting to get seasonal depression from being inside all day every day. I'm ready for some cool and rainy weather!

I really need to prepare myself for the possibility of only having one child. My daughter is only 5 months so it would be a long way off if we decided to have another anyway. But at this rate, with inflation, it's not looking favorable for us. That makes me sad and part of me wants to be like "F-it, let's have another kid", but I know that is not responsible at all. I worry so much about the world she is inheriting from us. I know that it's up to me to pour into her as much as possible and be a …

Solidarity. I quit social media because it was triggering my PPD/PPA. I'm surrounded by toxicity everywhere I turn and it feels so isolating. I'm working from home part-time because daycare is too expensive to justify me going back full-time, but we're still living paycheck to paycheck. This is even after doing all the hyper simplistic budgeting. Like how much more can I possibly cut out if we're already bare bones?

That's such a tough spot to be in, but good on you for being aware of it. Some people wouldn't even give it a second thought! I have a relative like that and I think it's just a lack of social awareness. A lot of it is timing. It's definitely important to remember that both of your experiences are real and valid regardless of how things look on the surface.
