4	[deleted by user] Tattoos currently represent taking the kind of gentle, safe risks that make someone seem fun. They retain the faint cultural memory of the edge they had back when having a tattoo could be a career-ender. It's an easy way of visually saying "I'm not going to be boring or fearful."
