Yes, but women are societally harmed in ways that men aren’t and men are harmed in ways that women aren’t. Feminism provides a frame of analysis to drill down on those specific issues. It’s not applicable to every situation but I don’t think just throwing it out because it isn’t always useful all the time is a good idea.

I understand that men’s issues aren’t even close to being addressed or even talked about, but that just demonstrates that feminism is only really useful for advancing women’s interests. So when it comes to men’s issues we should probably be analyzing and advocating for them differently. I don’t see how those two things are incompatible.

Could you expand on that? Obviously dogmatic belief is cancer, but why can’t some ideology be useful? If someone is aware of the presuppositions they’re making then wouldn’t that person be able to change their position when those presuppositions are challenged?

So do you not think the patriarchy construct is useful at all? It seems silly to me to just throw it out on the principle of it being a social construct alone. We don’t do the same with language for instance because it’s useful.
