This entire point is mute though as this is talking about Audi, a private German car manufacturer. While things are different for public jobs, there is still the issues in the private at least in the US, but the moral questions of it remain throughout the world.

Well the public sector is different. If you want to run for a government position or if you chose to work there, you are subject to scrutiny on your performance. Not always the case, as you see with DMVs, but public positions are heavily audited compared to private sector equivalents. Something something trust in government, sort of thing.

Bottomline of the wage gap is that women are still willing to work for it, thus they are not being underpaid. Employment is merely an agreement that the owner pays X for Y work (don't read into the chromosomes please, using them as common math terms). X and Y are completely set by price floor and ceiling of the employee and the employeer respectively. If they can't find a middle ground, go look elsewhere.
