Can you men remind me not to beg for her back? The urge is strong to ask her to come back. She’s an ex for a reason. | /r/Divorce_Men | 14/06/26 10:39 PM

Those who remarried after divorce…I was also married to a narcissist and my therapist actually diagnosed me with PTSD after the divorce. It’s been 8 years and I’m just starting to date again. I have a couple of fears. I have not looked into the validity of them, but I will later. 1) if I remarry, could my new spouse’s income be used for my ex to request a redo of her alimony payments? The courts may/may not see my new spouse’s assets fair game. If they don’t and 2) my new spouse happens to pass away and leave me property and/or … | /r/Divorce_Men | 22/10/24 04:31 PM
Engagement RingI don’t think that’s considered martial property since it was a gift to her before the marriage. So the judge likely won’t consider it when distributing marital property. | /r/Divorce_Men | 01/08/24 01:57 AM
Quote to repeat to yourself EVERY DAYMy healing went in stages. First was the physical healing. Thru the proceedings I had put on a lot of weight. I also had numerous panic attacks with fainting spells. That led to 3-4 concussions within a few months that caused some brain damage. That it turn caused me to get vertigo and some major hearing loss. So the first part of my healing was to lose the weight with the help of a great registered dietitian and finding the right ENT to help counter the vertigo. It took me over a year to lose 1… | /r/Divorce_Men | 10/07/24 12:40 PM
Quote to repeat to yourself EVERY DAYHang in there my friend. My divorce was final in Aug 2016. This year, I finally feel healed, happy and at peace. Over 7 years to heal for me - and I was the one that filed for the divorce. | /r/Divorce_Men | 08/07/24 09:43 PM
What’s the point of life if she is going to take half eventuallyIt’s just stuff. She gets stuff, you get your life back. | /r/Divorce_Men | 08/07/24 03:47 PM
Who initiated the separation/divorce? You or the wife?Me. She was verbally and mentally abusive to the kids as well as me. I finally had enough and filed. | /r/Divorce_Men | 06/07/24 02:17 PM
Has anyone ever asked for the value of their spouses ring to be considered in the assets and split 50/50?I don’t think an engagement ring would be considered marital property. It was a gift given to her before you married her. Keep in mind that I’m not a lawyer though. | /r/Divorce_Men | 06/07/24 03:51 AM
She filed today I’m lostAlso set up a new bank account that she doesn’t have access to for your paychecks and have them direct deposited to that new account. Get a PO Box that only you have access to. Have all your mail changed to deliver to that PO Box. ESPECIALLY ANY FINANCIAL mail. Instead of cancelling your credit cards, remove her from the account and have a new card sent to your PO Box. Cancelling credit cards can hit your credit score and you don’t need that too. | /r/Divorce_Men | 31/01/24 02:44 PM
How to prove cohabitationI didn’t think about serving him with a subpoena. That sounds great when I move on this. It may take a year before I can proceed with the court actions. | /r/Divorce_Men | 30/12/23 04:32 PM
How to prove cohabitationI’m thinking this may be the best way to proceed for now. | /r/Divorce_Men | 30/12/23 04:29 PM
How to prove cohabitationI’m sure she still has everything still connected to her own place as far as addresses go. So she will still have bills going to her own place, in her name. Same with drivers license. And I don’t really want to subpoena anything at the moment that could tip her off that I’m watching. | /r/Divorce_Men | 30/12/23 04:29 PM
How to prove cohabitationThey both still own a separate home. But I think that’s just for appearances. Her place has no mortgage and is owned free and clear by her and her mother. We actually helped her mother buy the place outright prior to my even thinking of a divorce and the mother put her on the deed at purchase time. | /r/Divorce_Men | 30/12/23 04:26 PM
How to prove cohabitationPayment is until either death, she remarries, or cohabitates as a family for at least a year. I’m 64. She’s 60. Monthly alimony is $24,000/year or $2,000/month. So I’m thinking it would be cheaper to pay something now to save in the future. | /r/Divorce_Men | 30/12/23 04:22 PM
