Lol. Free yo self!!! White debil here. My kids all grew up in mixed neighborhoods and their friends were commonly black kids so I heard the vernacular often. The best is when you ask you daughter who she's going out with, "is that the white girl or the balck girl" and she responds with "Daddy, she's not black, she's mocha-carmel".

Afro-oligist here. Not exactly light skinned. A "high yella" would be considered a light skinned person. Red Bone refers to mixed genes that result in "finer" features as compared to west African balcks, which were commonly slaves. Commonly used to describe creole peoples, a red bone can be darker complexion, not "blue gum" black by any means by also darker than a high yella but with a straight nose and thinner lips.
