Why would you expect an online stranger to set you up with their irl friends? I don't really; I was humoring that guy because he was presenting himself as someone trying to help. As always, he was full of shit. Does he live in the same city? In this instance he said he was in the same metro area, though he could have gone through my comment history to guess where I'm located.
