Also what is it with redditors using irony as a burn too much? Having the opinion that men care about looks more than woman is again one of the most common opinions in the world because it’s so painstakingly obvious. So it is not ironic that I told someone describing a personal situation that it was a “you” thing in this post. Try actually thinking about what you’re saying before you act like you’re being clever.

Not at all. Men caring about looks more than women is one of the most obvious and universal aspects of human existence there is. The fact that people are arguing against just goes to show the lengths redditors will go to argue just to argue.

That dynamic exists because men care about looks more than women.

I see waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay fewer trophy husbands than trophy wives.

1 I’m not fully convinced Greek culture objectified women more. 2 Women have been objectified more than men for all of human history in yearly every culture. Read any writings or art from any culture that involves women and they are attractive. Almost no one writes poems or stories or sculpts or paints ugly women. Humans think women have to be hot to have value by and large.
/r/PurplePillDebate15/03/23 09:43 PM

They had statues of hot women too. I’m not fully convinced considering how few human cultures objectify men more than women and at how old the culture is and how little artifacts we have left.

You’re the one injecting negativity. I like wandering the world looking for sex. I just think we should stop shaming people for being “shallow”because it’s not a choice it biological imperative. It can be a choice to a certain extent but I really don’t think you can just decide to not be attracted to hot people.
/r/PurplePillDebate15/03/23 09:21 PM

And all the cultures stemming from Greece. WAIT prove that Greece objectified men more than women.

What are you talking about? I don’t hate men. Nothing anyone has said has changed my mind because they haven’t made a good point. Except for that one guy who posted a peer reviews article. Stop making assumptions about my character because you are frustrated and just stop taking to me.

No you’d see those dudes at some point settle down with a woman who’s much more attractive than them after the make their economic bones. As I said I very very rarely see an ugly woman in a relationship with a hot guy.

This is not the behavior of this weird alpha archetype you think you are. If you were you wouldn’t have a Reddit account and would be accomplishing something.

I’m not saying I know you are lying I’m saying you are either lying (the more likely option because I have met many men who lied about this and their behavior demonstrated the exact opposite view) or you are an outlier in which case good for you but you are an outlier and aren’t the average man. It is not an egregious assumption because most men are roaming the earth looking for nothing but sex. Again I never said that men only or should only care about looks when looking for a partner so I have…

Apparently not because women date ugly men all the time.

You’re right. Kind find that article, but there are plenty others. I don’t think a scientific study on the matter has ever said that women objectify men more so google is your friend. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2009-07-29/evolution-makes-women-more-attractive/1371676

Also I stated a lot more reasons other than studies in my comment but thank you for doing your best to find a logical fallacy you can use to pedantically write everything I’ve said off. I LOVE REDDIT.

YUP. Reality is dead everyone is just rationalizing to meet their emotional needs. The most obvious facets of reality are being questioned for questionings sake. Don’t like being ugly? just pretend you aren’t!

People like you are the reason discourse is so shitty. You make a bunch of assumptions and ignore details so that you can be “right” in your simple black and white mind. This thread is not about debating wether or not women objectify men, they absolutely do.

It would benefit you because getting laid is so important to you as a man that you actually believe your own lies if they help you achieve the ultimate truth of getting laid. Lots of people lie on Reddit to feel better about themselves. Yes you did you said “I don’t agree with you in terms of seeking a partner”

Weird how all artists and people in power in all of human history have objectified women more than men. There are lots of reasons to think women and men have wildly different functions for attractions because they have wildly different roles in reproducing people.

Actually I’d say it’s much harder for a woman to become attractive. Women can’t workout hard enough to have an hourglass figure but almost every man can get ripped. The bar for male attractiveness is much much lower btw, just watch any media from any country ever.

I am saying you and your friends are probably lying, or you’re not average. I never said how to look for a mate and I definitely never said that you should chose your mate off of looks exclusively. You are assuming a lot of things about me for no reason.
/r/PurplePillDebate15/03/23 07:22 PM

It’s not mutually exclusive, you can be attracted to someone physically and mentally.

I totally agree with the first part and mostly the second part. But I think female sexuality can be extremely complicated. Some women are attracted to the weirdest traits.
/r/PurplePillDebate15/03/23 07:11 PM

You don’t seem to be disagreeing with me yet you keep saying you are. I never said all men or women I very deliberately said average. variations on what? I truly don’t think you read my whole post as most of your points are addressed in my original post.
/r/PurplePillDebate15/03/23 07:10 PM

Experienced men care about looks more than experienced women. They may care about looks less than young men but still more than their female counter point.
/r/PurplePillDebate15/03/23 07:08 PM
1

That’s great for you if true, I really mean that. I have just met so many men who say they don’t care about looks as a way to sleep with hotter women. If you jerk off to conventionally attractive women then I kinda don’t believe you care more about personally than looks. Does personality of the pornstars make you cum? Is it the personality of your partner that makes you cum?

What do the women you jerk off too look like?

One I didn’t ask anything so learn what words mean before you use them. Two based on my anecdotal experience with others Two My own brain as I am a hetero man. Three all of human history. Four every single scientific study on the matter. Five the way gay guys pick partners and the way lesbians pick partners.

I think women can be attracted to a man for a plethora of reasons(generally boils down to being good at something but not always) and men are attracted to woman for mostly one reason. Face/body.
/r/PurplePillDebate15/03/23 06:52 PM
1

Not to mention all of the scientific studies that prove this. people should stop acting like caring about looks has anything to do with the quality of someone’s character. Unless it’s extreme.

I tried!

I think that even if men objectifying women more than women objectifying men is completely a social construct it doesn’t matter. You can’t make people be attracted to something they aren’t attracted to, sexuality isn’t a choice for anyone. I totally agree that society does affect the way we objectify each other and gender I just also think that since men caring about looks more than women is universal in all human societies it’s probably got some basis in nature just like men being more violent.…
/r/PurplePillDebate05/10/22 08:43 PM

But why does every human society to ever exist have similar trends? I’d like to live in a world where we are all just balls of light and consciousness but we aren’t. We are animals with biological drives and desires and we have to come to terms with the fact that somethings about us can be changed and somethings can’t. It would be nice if males objectifying their sexual partners was just a social trend and we could change it but I believe it’s probably based in biology. If objectifying women was…

If it isn’t genetic in origin then why has practically every human culture to ever exist objectified women more than men? Why is porn for men based on visual stimulation more than women’s porn? There isn’t a country on the planet where the roles are reversed. I am a man and I remember when I first started to be horny and it was for boobs and butts not personalities and charm. Even if mens sexuality being based off of visual stimulation was 100% a social creation so what? Male sexuality still is …

Hot guys don’t wanna fuck her as much as hot women wanna fuck ugly rich guys. To the exact extent idk but i know it’s less.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/10/22 01:47 PM

If your personality is shit almost no women will date you. If your rich and nice lots will even if you’re ugly. If a women is rich and nice but ugly no one wants to fuck her. This is a generalization I am aware there are outliers.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/09/22 05:52 PM

Ya women don’t care about looks as much as men on average. Male sexuality is basically 100% visual stimulation.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/09/22 05:44 PM

Men*. Women seem to be attracted to lots of different traits that change person to person. At least when compared to men.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/09/22 05:42 PM

I’ve never really seen it. Women tend to date across or down in looks and men across and up.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/09/22 05:40 PM

Because female sexuality is based off of multiple things other than visual stimulation. Male sexuality is almost entirely based on visual stimulation.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/09/22 05:39 PM

So why do women almost never date up in terms of looks?

Having your sexuality based almost entirely off of visual stimulation. I could meet the perfect partner for me but if she isn’t physically attractive to me I can’t force myself to be attracted to her. Women’s sexuality seems to be based off of a combo of physical attractiveness and a bunch of other factors that seem to be unique woman to woman. A friend once told me that “women learn to be attracted to who they love and men learn to love who they’re attracted too”, now while I think this is pain…

The stereotype that men are bad at communicating comes from toxic masculinity. Men who buy into masculinity hard think that self expression is a sign of weakness unless it’s anger. I’ve met men who literally won’t ask questions because having someone inform you of something is weakness to them, listening to someone’s point of view is weakness, not knowing something is weakness. It’s a sad prison of fear to be locked into.
