So you basically want 2 parents per child plus you to come by and say “hi” once in a while and be there for some fun moments. 🫠🤨 So if you have 3 kids and you’re going to have 6 PhDs living with you round the clock to take care of them. Make it make sense.

High value women don’t go for men like you’re describing and the men you are describing are not high value.

Yeah, because he is. 5 is average and he is definitely not above average, maybe average at best. Maybe he’s a 6 in the Midwest, but at his current weight, he’s a coastal 4 purely based on looks. However, IRL personality can go a long way to increase someone’s attractiveness, but here, we can only go purely based on physical appearance. He has potential to be hot if he wasn’t overweight but we can’t rate on potential because everyone would be hotter if they were in better shape.

You just said that Europeans have higher standards and that the bar is lower in America. Now American women have ridiculous high standards? So which is it? Plenty of people, regardless of gender, have ridiculous standards. Too many people also think filtered/facetuned photos on social media are real when those people don’t exist IRL. John Krasinki is hot imo. 🤷🏻‍♀️

American woman here, and based on looks alone at his current weight, he is a 4. He may not be “ugly” but he is below average.

Women initiate divorce, but it’s not necessarily because they are the one who initially wanted it. Women typically do the emotional labor in a relationship, so what’s one final task? So tired of seeing these comments “men don’t get anything from marriage.” Jfc. So ridiculous. If men get nothing from marriage then why is it that men are more likely than women to get remarried? While I don’t know you’re financial situation is obviously, I’ve never met a successful man who says “men don’t get anyth…

I work full time but a spouse who stays home to take care of the family, takes on the bulk of the household, and supports the other spouse’s career is not a mooch. Many successful people attribute their success to their spouse. My husband tells me all the time he wouldn’t be where he is today with out me. Regardless, if I wasn’t working and staying home because that is the arrangement we decided, that means I would be giving up my earning power. And fact is, if I were to be out of the workforce …

Seriously. OP be like, “I want to meet someone who dates with intention but I don’t want to have any preliminary serious conversations to avoid time wasters because that is only something desperate people do.” 😵‍💫😵‍💫 Make it make sense.

Lol. Women literally have kids in their 40s and most of my friends with kids had them after 30, including myself and my mom and my husband’s mom. If you meet someone are you planning to dump her when she turns 30? But continue to throw shade and shit on women who are 30+. You’re the one who is single and can’t find someone and we just learned why. YOU ARE WHAT YOU ATTRACT. Quality people want quality people.

Asking someone what they are looking for is not desperate. If someone has on their profile that they are only looking for hookup or short term then I wouldn’t even bother talking to them or go on a date. A stranger’s favorite cream flavor is irrelevant to compatibility. I’m not saying you ask questions like an interview, but before you even meet, you should make sure the non-negotiables are cleared up (ie: what are you looking for, marriage, kids— bc those are things you can’t compromise on). It…

It’s not desperate to make sure you’re looking for the same thing off the bat. That is literally what dating with intention is. I met my husband on OLD. I was explicit that I was seeking LTR that results in marriage and kids. If a guy knows he doesn’t want to get married or have kids then why should we waste each other’s time when it is fundamentally not a match?

That’s true too. And at a certain point you’re either all in or you’re not. It doesn’t take that long to know if you want to be exclusive. The guy said he didn’t want to be exclusive— can’t have it both ways. Seems like there may be missing context or he wasn’t that into her. But if a guy told me what she said to him, I’d also be like “go date her then. Bye.” Either way, she miscalculated by threatening to date another guy and telling the guy that she really likes that she likes another guy. Jus…

Absolutely agree. However, I don’t know if her date qualifies as cheating since they weren’t exclusive, and he said he didn’t want to be exclusive, but she was clearly trying to make him jealous by mentioning she went on a date with someone else, which is where she messed up. You can’t manipulate your way into a relationship. Seems like bad communication all around. But also, in my experience, I think when people really like each other they also just end up hanging out like 4 days a week off the…

No one is saying to meet everyone or have zero messages. Why is everything being taken to extreme. Texting for days/weeks is very time consuming. Why would you want to waste the easy flirty conversation over text. Also, meeting for a quick drink after work is like 30 minutes and if you are both into it then drinks turn into dinner.
/r/PurplePillDebate18/02/23 03:52 PM
1

I’m not saying to meet a random guy at 1030p, wtf. I said “drink after work,” which means happy hour, which is approximately 6pm. Meeting the next day or a few days later is also fine. I’m merely talking about a situation where you’re chatting in the morning or afternoon and you just go meet for a quick happy hour on the same day or some other day that week instead of dragging on with endless texts for weeks. I thought that was clear, but maybe not.

You make no sense. If you don’t have time in your life to date and get to know someone then how are you supposed to date? Why are you on apps looking for dates if you don’t have time. If you’re single and trying to not be single, this is why you are still single. 🫠

There’s no way to know everything about someone before you start dating them. Put it in your profile then if you need to make a nonnegotiable clear. If you want marriage and kids then they knowing each other wants that simple baseline thing is enough. If someone wants to remain child free then there’s no point in even meeting. Also, no amount of checklist is going to account for whether you even get along in person. Why would you waste all that time getting to know someone before meeting? You do…

I used to use okcupid and hinge and was successful on both. I guess it’s changed a lot in the last 4 years. But in my experience, men who want marriage and kids will include that in their profile or be upfront about it, and if they weren’t, they were not the guys I wanted.
/r/PurplePillDebate18/02/23 01:59 AM
1

Isn’t that already in the profile? If he checks the boxes that say “wants to get married” and “wants kids,” and you want those things too then doesn’t that resolve that issue? Before I met my husband I just wouldn’t match with a guy unless his profile explicitly said he wants to get married and have kids. Obviously there is more that needs to ultimately align for it to ultimately work.
/r/PurplePillDebate18/02/23 12:27 AM
2

Why would that be annoying? If you have plans then you can schedule a different day, but if you’re free then why not? That’s how I met my husband. The day we matched we were messaging on an app and he just asked me out for a drink after work. I didn’t have plans so we met and lived happily ever after. lol

I met my husband a few hours after we matched/had our first message. Soooo a few hours was the minimum. Lol. 2 weeks seems like a long time bc then you’re wasting all of the easy flirty get to know you conversation. There were guys who I spoke to on the phone for hours and then when we met IRL the chemistry just was not there. There is no amount of “vetting” that will create chemistry IRL so I think it’s best to just set up a date to meet for a quick drink bc then you can both be out of there in…

Whatever his age he is overestimating his SMV and doesn’t have enough money and/or charm to compensate for his old ass to get the women he wants. If you’re fine being single and having sex be transactional and don’t need love and intimacy that you don’t pay for then good for you I guess, but sounds gross imo.

The best things in life don’t come free of risk. And saying no to love because you fear heartbreak will likely lead to regret. I’ve never heard someone saying they regret making a family but I have heard people say they regret not making one. Life is about people and what is the point if you have no one to share/go through life with. Also, divorce doesn’t mean you don’t get to see your kids anymore. Plenty of people co-parent and courts don’t just take parental rights from people for no reason. …

You’re making no sense. Men and women are built differently and the tests account for that. You have 2 people, one who weighs 130 pounds and the other weighs 200 pounds and if they are both only able to lift 80 pounds, the lighter person is technically stronger because they are lifting more than half their body weight. But by your logic they are doing the same work.

Well the question is “what type of girl do you hit on,” not “what type of girl do you wish for.” To get a hot girl, all you need is 2 of the following: looks, money, and/or personality. And as celebrities prove, no one is ugly, they’re just broke. 😂

This is similar to Albert Brook’s theory in “Defending Your Life,” when talking about his ex-wife in that “you should be with someone who turns you on just enough, anything more causes problems— she was much prettier than I needed.” 🤣 Anyways, point is you’re right, beauty is a depreciable asset. It seems like women too many women are scared to bring up marriage and kids because they think it will scare the man off, but a man who wants to get married and have kids is not going to be put off by you bringing it up. So if brining up marriage scares him off then that’s a good thing because now you won’t waste your time with someone who is not marriage minded.

Your friends should have left after 2 years of the relationship. They didn’t make marriage a requirement. After a certain point, more time doesn’t yield new information and thus what is the point of more time.

What’s your point here? You think there should be policies that take away rights away from other people because you can’t get laid? Convert to a religion that has arranged marriages like someone else mentioned. Or lower your standards (same thing applies to women who can’t get a man); people need to be realistic about their SMV and what they can get.

There is no way to know that unless they previously met and she rejected him because, all things being equal, he wasn’t successful. People are individuals. And outside of OLD, you wouldn’t necessarily even know someone’s exact age when you meet people out the world. What’s the point of this post? What are the benefits of dating anyone at any age? This is as cringy as asking “what are the benefits to dating a man who is under 5’ 8”. When you’re closer in age you’ll have more things in common due to having more shared cultural references. I love that my husband and I get all of each other’s jokes, but age gaps can work too (granted I personally wouldn’t because the younger person will end up outliving the old person by many years). Courts take many factors into an account when dividing assets, and the length of time of the marriage is one of them. So if you’re only married for a few months then no one is getting anything from the other person (unless there are kids, and then there’s going to be child support). If you keep that bank account separate and open a new account and no longer put any money into that account post marriage, then it will remain separate. Everything is very fact specific though and I’m not a family la…

I’m assuming the person is in the US. Also, premarital property is always separate as long as the assets were kept separate and NEVER commingled with marital assets. Like putting $1 of into an account after getting married is considered commingled asset. Most ppl don’t understand all the laws and ways property gets commingled, combined w/ angry ppl in a divorce, which is how premarital assets end up getting into the mix.

Assets acquired during a marriage are community property acquired together, so splitting them 50/50 is appropriate. Assets acquired prior to marriage are considered separate property and are not split in a divorce. A spouse (man or woman) who forgoes work to take care of the home/children/support the other spouse’s career is entitled to half of the property acquired during the marriage because it was done together. There is a monetary value attached to doing those things. And as a side note, I’m…

Yeah it does. I had plenty of failed relationships (and even a failed marriage) before I met my husband. But the failed relationships and bad dates never deterred me from continuing to try. You can definitely go to the gym and get fit. Shave your head so you lose the balding look and just go bald— own it— and grow a beard. On OLD if you write a good profile that signals you’re funny and make 6 figures, then you can overcome looks, assuming that you’re clean/dressed well. Remember, no one is ugly, they are just broke.

Welp, you are certainly living up to your name, Mr.Toxic_AF. I’m guessing you’re single. Best of luck.

We don’t know how /u/gigamon2014 responded to his gf, only that she is expressing her desire to get married. /u/Diamond-breath said “let her go” implying that if he knows he doesn’t want to get married to her then her should tell her so (that’s what “let her go” means). But for some reason you think this is unreasonable and people should string others along to get some sort of ROI for selfish personal interests instead of having relationships where both people are working together towards shared…

I don’t know what “legacy” or “defiance” you’re talking about, but anyone, man OR woman, who doesn’t honestly communicate their intentions/goals, particularly when they do not align with the other person’s, is an asshole. In this instance, if commenter’s gf wants to get married/children and he has no intention to take the relationship there, she should be informed so she doesn’t wait for something that will not happen— news flash, people in love will wait to their own detriment if they aren’t to…

if you are in a relationship and care about someone and they are waiting for something that isn’t going to happen then you’re basically tricking/lying to them. what is the purpose of this if you don’t want to be with them? 🙄😳 and you’re literally also wasting your own time because you could be out there dating other people too. Just wow.

Fair enough. And get what you’re saying regarding the scale. It’s not necessarily black and white. If you asked me a year ago I wouldn’t have said 10. But I guess I’m not able to qualify below 10 bc right now I really do feel 10/10, like if nothing changed from today I would still be happy with things as they are. I think part of that comes from practicing mindfulness and gratitude in the small everyday things. But I see what you’re saying, and I guess the optimal anyone could ever say at any mo…

Wanting to achieve more doesn’t mean you’re not perfectly content and happy in the moment. I responded with a 10/10 because I actually am really happy with everything exactly as it is in my life. Working towards other goals doesn’t mean being unhappy with current situation. I’m marrying my best friend, have my dream career that gives me flexibility w/ good work life balance (corporate/tax attorney), financially very stable and lack nothing, great friends and family. Our next goal is kids and mor…

1) I feel I’m at a 10. I have my dream job, I’m marrying the love of my life in one month, and I have great friends and family relationships. 2) I’m mid-30s and definitely happier now. I have a better sense of self. But I was not unhappy or miserable in my 20s either. And I don’t really look much different from my 20s, nor have I ever had trouble dating (when I was dating). Manospheres are full of miserable men. Although something that got worse is that I definitely can’t stay up all night and b…

It’s more practical, Bc one day he’s going to want dick, and a woman will never be able to provide that unless she isn’t monogamous/opens up the relationship.

Women have plenty of pressure and expectations to deal with in a relationship— it’s not only men. You think women don’t worry about aging or keeping their man happy? It’s not like men never break up with women. I know I definitely make sure to put in plenty of effort into my relationship no matter how busy I get. But my fiancé and I are also best friends, and I wouldn’t trade our companionship for anything. I don’t look at my partner as someone with a “useful life” and I definitely didn’t start …

I think you hit the nail on the head. I was in law school when I met my now fiancé. He was making average salary; i was in a much better financial situation than him even though I was in school and not working. Now I’m making about $200k/year and he is in grad school. He has potential to make more but I don’t care what he ends up doing as long as he loves what he is doing bc I’m at the beginning of my career and make plenty for us to have a family and live comfortably. So even if he doesn’t end …
