I worked in dementia units forever and I loved and trusted all my coworkers….to an extent. I’ve literally told my parents I’ll pay for private care after that experience and I hate their guts. So if you want to understand American healthcare just know I have experience in the field, know how bad it can be, despise my family, and STILL wouldn’t put them in assistive care. Do with that what you will.

My wife didn’t go by cost, we went out together after had the marriage discussion and tried on what we both liked. She picked it out when she was on her own and bought the most gorgeous rock of the bunch that she liked seeing on my finger. Chiming in as another lesbian fan of this sub, the advice presented here is just as useful when applied to same sex relationships and friendships as heterosexual ones. I wish I had this community in my younger days when I seemed to be a magnet for LVW who were just as predatory and dangerous to my mental health as LVM can be. It’s always been bizarre to me, even when I had much shorter hair (I’ve always dressed fairly androgynously) I have always said I could walk into any male dominated space and ask if anyone wanted to bone and get a bunch of raised hands. Whether they were attracted to me or not isn’t the issue and that’s one of the fundamental differences between men and women. To them, everything is not only about sex but about very different standards for what it takes to achieve it.
