When she leveraged accusations of "emotional abuse" against me to justify her behavior. I tolerated a lot and worked hard to reconcile, to keep our family together. But to be accused of abuse? After 16 years of marriage, completely supporting her? There was no coming back from that.

Oh yeah, this is super common. It happened to me too--inability to sleep, focus, eat. Make an appointment with your doctor to address the physical symptoms in the immediate future. Medication may help in the short-term, but that's a conversation to have with your PCP. Therapy will also help in the medium-to-long term. For me, a one-time Xanax prescription did wonders and had me sleeping/eating again immediately. It got me over the hump. YMMV

This is the wrong question. If you're focused on your ex's regret, you're looking backward instead of building your own future. It doesn't matter--move on and focus on what's ahead for you.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
