I’m willing to do most things to help. Unfortunately one of the things wrong is early life osteoarthritis. And I weigh to little for a fast but I do think some of your recommendations would be a good add to what I am already doing :) thank you for your help.

I have a lot medically wrong with me. It prevents me from being able to care for my husband the way I want to. I just don’t have the energy. I get so happy when I can cook for him. Or when I can clean something he wants me to clean. Wanting to care for your other should be a normal occurrence. Do I have a job. Yes. Does he. Yes. But we take care of each other. I would love to be able to do more. But I can’t. Empowering someone should include empowerment for everything. Rock on lady. Take care of…

I think the implication is that because she is hot one would let her do anything to them without complaint. Which in turn illigitamizes people when they are abused. Doesn’t make you a pansy to want people to be then seriously especially when a thought that follows is why you complaining. She’s hot.

I’ve spent my whole life wearing a top. I don’t think I would be physically comfortable without one. Also I’m super super light. That would be the worst sun burn ever. That said I do think women should be able to breast feed without having to smother babies with blankets or go to a bathroom. I mean I can’t see any reason why one would want to go topless in all seriousness other than to cause a problem. That idea of it isn’t an issue unless someone makes it an issue. Do I make sense?

I just don’t get this. Why would you go into anything for the money aspect. I mean. No wonder there is so much unhappiness. They want the relationships to fail. My husband and I started with nothing. Like. And we are pretty happy.

You know what. I work hard. My husband works hard. How dare they think that I need less hours because I’m a woman and my husband who already works more than 40 hours needs more. You know what I would actually prefer? If my profession as a whole, men and women got paid what we are actually worth. What the hell are they nitpicking hours for when there is actual job and wage disparity in general. You can’t sit there and say you should be paid for the skill but have less hours if you are a woman and…

We ask permission from each other sometimes. It depends on what it is and whether we have had time to talk about things that are going on in our lives. If we have been busy working then we will check in before making plans just to make sure we haven’t missed something. (He also has some pretty severe ADD where I need to repeat myself. Whatever. See body autonomy goes both ways. I don’t want some making choices about my body we shouldn’t do it to children either
/r/MensRights22/12/19 06:32 AM

I think you definitely should have some say. It makes sense to me. I do think there is definitely an issue though in regards to body autonomy. That’s the biggest hurdle. At some point you e two bodies deserving of body autonomy. And one is going to lose. It starts to get super complicated. But to say it does t affect men is stupid. There is a piece of your heart there too.

That has Mexican data or us? I’m asking because following comments mention US so I’m confused. If rape with female victims is higher in a country I could understand the need for a train car. So I’m just trying to figure out where this was going in terms of those numbers specifically in Mexico. That said. We don’t throw people off trains. Especially blind ones.

There are a lot of visionally impaired and blind people who don’t look it too. Learning to take the train can be a very hard task. People shouldn’t be berated for it. It’s because it’s not about reabilitation here. It’s legalized slavery. That said. People who do things to children should probably be locked away for long periods of time. Just had a guy in my state get released after two years. He helped drug and rape and kill and chop up a little girl. But they let him go. That’s terrible. My abusers were never even charged when I was a kid. And they were male and female. They should be charged the same with the same punishment equally. The idea that there ar…

I meant for actual child molestation and sexual penetration. I don’t think 19 yr old boy should go to prison or be on a list for someone lying about their age. Straight up had someone who helped rape and murder and cut up a little girl get released this year. Only been in jail 2 years.

No. It was response that came along after black lives matter in which people used all lives matter to illegitimatize the black lives matters movement. The idea was that their lives mattered too and by saying all lives they were including black people into a whole where the amount of death they were experiencing was not seen as important. It’s like saying men’s lives matter. There are things that specifically affect men that would be ignored in an all lives movement. Essentially it was a way to s…

It should also be noted that black people are highly incarcerated with long term prison sentences at a higher rate. Not that they commit crimes that warrant it either. We still have slavery it’s just in the prison system and majority affects men regardless of color

Not necessarily that they commit more crimes so much as are accused of more crimes. This is a phenomenon that can be seen across the board. Especially in crimes or robbery or rape. They also are killed more not because police are necessarily trying to kill them but because police have been conditioned that black men are more likely to use violent or lethal force and thus they use what they perceive as the same. Don’t get me wrong. At the same time there are totally police out there where it is d…

I’m a teacher of the visually impaired and blind. The weight she has gained has been over the last two years. She isn’t pre obese or obese but is over recommended weight. The last twenty pounds were gained over a two month period which saw a change in medication and an extended period of time where she was making her own food choices as part of an independence based camp. She did increase her calories because she didn’t have the same type of watching during this time. When at home this was maint…

This was over two years with the last twenty coming in over the last two months. She has an endocrine that prevents her from knowing she is full. She feels hungry all the time.. those last two months she was at a camp where you plan your own meals. Without the constant adult attention and exercise she got at home she just gained weight. But on a whole, for her, maintaining weight is very hard. I’m not advocating that we should allow people to do harm to themselves with over eating. I’m not argui…

I work one on one with that student and have for the last three years. She has a condition that messes with her endocrinology. It makes it very hard to maintain weight. It was exasperated with a medication she was taking. Part of it is not knowing when she isn’t hungry. She feels hungry all the time. It never goes away. So she never knows when she is full. Her parents keep her on a very strict diet with exercise. And she still managed to gain weight. It’s a common symptom of ONH. Or optic Nerve …

Oh no. I completely agree. I’m not saying massive amounts of weight. Although I did see one of my students go up about 50 pounds or so because of medicine but she also has a condition that makes it super hard to control weight in general. I suppose it depends on what someone views as fat.
/r/MensRights17/11/19 04:50 PM

Oh no. I agree. I’m wasn’t saying it as a way to explain those who are on the extreme end only that there are some who have weight gain from other situations other than over eating or laziness. Of course part of me wants to ask what someone would interpret as fat as well.

Listen if I hear a noise in the house I can totally go check it out myself. That said I recognize I am a liability. I am not the best suited for this role. I am a tiny, fragile person(medically). While on a whole I am an egalitarian, I also recognize that for some things one or the other is just biologically better. I don’t wake my husband up because his life matters less than mine. I wake him up because I’m this altercation he is more likely to make sure we both come out of this alive.

It’s considered a type of trauma. The trauma itself affects the brain. The pain is very real and there is no anesthesia for it so they feel the entire thing.

Hey friend. You should have some sort of lawyer/ case worker that is specific to you and your case. You are of an age where you can directly ask this question and at an age where you can appeal it. You can also request to remain with your sister. And if the guardianship cannot be fulfilled with you staying together you can also appeal that. See. There is an actual condition that goes along with an transgendered individual. And the best way to help that individual is to transition. I get and understand that and as far as I’m concerned people should do what they need to do for their own self care and happiness. But I do take issue with children who can not give consent transitioning. The one posted is definitely not her work. It had been doctored. I agree that the original was a commentary on how men are raised. I think the breaking of the armor was what happened when given “permission” to feel. I do think the intention in the original is meant to be positive and would actually fit in to men’s rights as a recognition that men too can have feelings.

I just wanna say that this is not the original comic just in case anyone thinks that it is. Sarah Andersen comics aren’t like that so much as it’s about herself in general and not quite fitting in. This has been doctored from one of her panel series. I’m assuming the reason her name is crossed out is because of that.

I think this is a particularly complicated issue. When I think of the right to choose I think of those who didn’t have a voice to begin with. Like those who have been taken advantage of or raped. There are other issues that come up like any damage having a child could do to ones body( for example I have very fragile bones and should not carry a child for this reason) would it negate my right to keep myself safe? Assuming BC had failed? Some women gain other issues. Like diabetes and anemia. Who …

I wonder if it’s more an indication of fight and flight. Such as are men more predisposed to show anxiety and anger (fight) rather than as worry (flight). Is it biological or is it taught in terms of response? I think this opens a lot of questions that could lead to other indicators being identified such as suicide related tendencies. http://worldpopulationreview.com/countries/suicide-rate-by-country/ It appears that women are more likely to commit suicide in China than men are. They also have cultural methods that play apart in their suicide. Many of them jump. A study was done with people who were severely depressed and found that access to a gun was a leading deciding factor in whether or not they attempted at all. For women and for men. https://www.hsph.harvard.edu/news/magazine/guns-and-suicide/ Don’t get me wrong. If so…

It’s actually true. It’s not that men don’t get depressed or anxious it’s about how it is represented. I’d argue it is misleading. There are reasons why women and men have different rates for suicide as well. Both in the attempt and in completion of task. With many factors that play apart. Like access to a gun. All people are less likely to commit suicide if they do not have access to a gun. Women are more likely to use methods that are less damaging to their bodies and the way they look. Those …

I don’t go out unless I can pay for myself. If someone wants to treat me that’s fine but I’m never going to expect it of anyone. And if I can’t pay I let the person know that I can’t before we go out. As an aside I’ve only had sex with like four people and it took months and months before that happened.

I’m all for letting that kid dress up and do whatever at home. I dislike the shows and the money that also is coming from it just as much as I hate children beauty pageants. Your kid wants to dress up or put on make up for play fairy princess? Go for it. But the minute you start displaying it for money there is an issue.

I really do feel that this is a way that some women gain their “empowerment “. Because they have been conditioned that way. I do have issues when we don’t take clothes themselves into consideration. Some of them just aren’t made to certain specifications or able to fit all body types properly. (Necklines are a big one,for some they are just right and others they aren’t because of size but I digress) I would like to be able to find more appropriate clothing in general. A dress code is a dress code. That said there are a few issues with it mainly to do with the sudden enforcement and because some of those specifications can be hard to meet just because of how clothes are designed. I think it would be credible to give a transition time to allow for the changes. I think dress capris should be allowed. And skirts that at least meet your knee. Covering knee is a wee bit hard to find. It’s going to be a bit expensive if done suddenly. (Don’t get me wrong I sometimes…

The thing that bothers me the most is that they are taking something a lot of us have fought to make not sexual and turning it into a sexual thing. Like. This is why it’s hard to breastfeed in public. Breastfeeding is not a sexual act and should t. E treated as such. You know who gets most offended by breast feeding? Women. They are the ones who cause the most ruckus and attack those who are breastfeeding in public. Other women. It’s so very stupid.

Even if it’s a slap it’s still abuse because it takes more than a physical toll it is an emotional toll as well. A loss of power in the situation because you cannot fight back and many times you cannot run either. And it continues. Causing more emotional trauma and pain.

It’s a whole lot more complicated than that and has more to do with the acquisition of money and land. That’s why it was so important for the accused to make a plea of guilty or not guilty. While I get contraceptives fail you should still take preventative measures. Like. Two types of birth control. I feel that if preventative measures were not at least attempted than asking for damages becomes an issue of responsibility for both parties involved. This of course changes in regards to rape as it’s hard to take preventative measures for that.

We do our best to make thinks acceptable. We have found that some things don’t need to be made into an issue and that sometimes they need support. So. I could understand needing a specifically female or male receptionist depending on where it was. Like a women’s shelter. Not because a male couldn’t do the job but because people are crazy and it helps to prevent your receptionist being wrongfully accused or rape or other such things. On a whole it is generally sexist. So the question would be why that job only wanted a woman for the position. I hope I’m being mostly clear?

It really bothers me that that term has such bad connotations with it now. It’s original intent was to prevent people who had experienced trauma from being sent into panic or depressive episodes because of the story that was being told. It’s a term specifically used for ptsd. And then everyone has to fell special so the word started getting used for reason it shouldn’t have been used. I think this may be more the case of not wanting women to drive in general so they created an incentive for them not to. And with the male to female ratio it is significantly cheaper. It also looks like there are some serious gender issues in India in general. If this was the US or UK I could definitely see it as a biased issue where women are being shown preference over men. Turn the air conditioner on, I will just walk around in an oversized plush robe to stay warm. 😆 Sit to be comfortable. If you are impeding on my space or if I need a little more room. I can ask for it. Also I can hold my bag. It doesn’t need its own chair. I take medications that impede my ability to orgasm. Many people do and don’t realize that it is one of the symptoms y…

I don’t know if you are being facetious or not or just chatting with me. Either way. Your comment made me giggle at the end there. I didn’t know that was something that happened at barbershops and at first I thought you were referencing Sweeney Todd. I understand how you were referencing it. And felt like it sucks that that is what it turned into when it was once so much cooler 😄

There was something like this at one of the colleges I attended. But it was for everyone and there were a couple of girls that were part of it too. So if you felt better with another person than you could have a friend.

It always felt double standard to me. Like. No one said anything about predatory women going after boys. And they should of. Heck. Men doing things to boys is totally a thing to. And people are bad people and would have done bad either way.

Yeah my whole childhood was messed up. I was severely abused and then adopted from foster care. But then I was abused at school. Took a toll mind and body. I’ve ptsd from all the physical abuse (diagnosed while still a kid) and then now I’ve osteoarthritis (I’m 30) and fibromyalgia. And I really like this sub. The issues are really important and they need to be put out there. Like even with all the abuse men weren’t the issue. If anything it was more women. Either way it was people in general wh…

I’m a girl. And I was in a girls bathroom. Edit: and people are mean and fucked up. I was being bullied. I was using the bathroom as a safe place and then my teachers started sending other students with me. Who happened to be the bullies. I was literally just thinking about this subject. That said. I was thinking more on what your thoughts were about people being against trans people using women’s restrooms because of the idea that they would do bad things to the girls. How come none of them are concerned about stuff being done to the boys. Don’t get me wrong. I personally don’t care what bathroom you use as long as you flush the toilet and wash your hands. So my stance on this is that I don’t like to be called things like a “cunt ” or a “whore”. That said we also should call men “dicks” or “pussies” for the same reason I don’t like to be called the names I don’t like to be called. If a man says something to hurt my feelings than my issue is with him the same as it would be if a woman said something to hurt my feeling. I’m not being oppressed by a gender. Men aren’t predisposed to be mass shooters. They just have a lot of the factors that cause mass shooting surrounding them. Maybe a wee bit of male biology and psychology play a part but if you didn’t have the other factors you probably wouldn’t have a shooter in the first place. Similar things could be said about women. They don’t do it because they are women but because of the factors surrounding them. Like child abandonment. The biggest issue is everyone wants something to blame rather than to…

I’ll worry about them using something else when that’s what they are doing. They are important. I don’t think guns should be banned. Because they aren’t the biggest factor. And guns themselves aren’t the issue. It is the accessibility. People don’t use other methods because it is so easy to use this one. That aside. Men are doers and they should be recognized for the good they do. And they should have the credit for those good things they do. They aren’t looking about how to solve the problem. T…

I’d argue the issue has more factors than that and they need to be taken into account as a whole. So yes guns are important to the conversation because that is what is being used. And not whether or not you own a gun so much as the ability to get a gun and ammo easily. (And by this I mean legally because almost all of our mass shooting have been purchased by law abiding citizens before they committed their shooting. ) Looking at mass shootings being male is also a factor because the majority has…
/r/MensRights08/08/19 09:40 PM

Because access is part of the problem. You don’t need to worry about bombs or fires or anything like that because that’s not what is happening. Shootings are. And with men having the higher percentage of gun ownership it would make them more likely because of that access. The shootings aren’t happening because of men though and attributing it as something that is part of a gender is stupid. Correlation is not causation. Being a male is not the biggest contributing factor either. Mental health is…

I think it is important to be able to express one’s emotions whether you are a boy or a girl and I think emphasis should be put on helping children know why they are having that emotion, is it the appropriate emotion for what has occurred, and how do we help ourselves to feel better or solve the problem. And sometimes sometimes it is ok to not know and just need to cry. They have done studies on crying and found it helps to relieve stress and anxiety. I am positive if we allowed kids to express …

Is there a support group that could be made that doesn’t have this in it. Like maybe a discord or something for people to get the help they need without the crazy judgement. I’m not saying that this should be the case for men who’ve experienced sexual assault and rape but a safe place to go would be good to have. Those chicks are evil. Smh

Some girls are just crazy. I’ve known a few who used it as a way of control and revenge. They are just terrible people. It is really unfortunate because it doesn’t help anyone who has been assaulted or raped and makes it less likely that those people will be taken seriously.

My husband gets super super hot. So he keeps the house cooler. I get cold. I walk around in a plush warm bathrobe in my house. (He gets me a new fun one every couple of years) we both win. I would rather be cold with the prospect of getting warm than hot with the prospect of getting cool. I can always put a sweater on. He can only take so much off. No reason for anyone to be miserable.

I think if someone is hitting you you should be able to hit them back. That said. Nobody should be hitting anybody in the first place.

I’ve never felt like a fellow sitting next to me has infringed on my “space”. And if I needed a bit more room I’d use my words and ask for it. Seriously.

People shouldn’t be hitting in the first place. If someone smacks me back that’s what I get for putting my hands on them first. Seriously though.

Document document document. As much in writing as you can. You can request reports through email every time they get hurt. That said be a bit careful with your videos. They can be construed as you coaching him. I hate when parents do this. This is not what children are for. And your kids know too. I’m sorry you are going through this. And he is going through this.

I was in college. The toilets there didn’t have lids. I wasn’t expecting it to be up 🤣. But I can definitely see what you are saying.

I have only ever cared when needing to go to the bathroom at night and half asleep fallen in. (The feeling of falling was my issue)That said. My parents were adamant that all of us put the lid down when we flushed anyways because ewww. Heck. I’m more bothered when people don’t flush. Who cares up or down. Grab a tissue. Use it to move it. But flush the gosh darn toilet.

I’ve some pretty bad issues with my knees. Sitting in planes and such definitely exasperate the issue. I can understand how space can affect the way one sits. I’ve a very tall male friend. Chairs are not his friend.

As a female I am not against this. There are some really cool chairs that have hooks for bags. That said. Those manspreading chairs are stupid and I have never experienced it before. We should all be able to sit comfortably.

Legally he has taken the responsibility of that child by putting his name on the certificate. That said. He should be able to check paternity as part of a custody hearing especially if he has visitation and she isn’t letting him see the child. While he may still be required to pay child support because he Essentially took the responsibility, it would help in terms of visitation and justification for that visitation.

For some insane reason I don’t think the bathroom is clean unless I clean it and it smells like it’s been doused in bleach after. That said. It’s not preventing me from doing the things I want to do . At some point choices are made. And I’m my household we both have full time jobs in fields we love. We’ve given up nothing in exchange for what we wanted. And none of those things depicted above have prevented me from going where I wanted to.

I was just thinking the same thing. My husband and I split chores. And work full time jobs. We just get things done. That’s said I dispose dishes and putting laundry away. But he does his and I do mine.

I honestly don’t know. It’s interesting though because historically heels were originally made for men. I’d argue it doesn’t make anyone aware of violence against women. And if it does there are better ways to go about it and there should be a commentary on violence in general.

Originally I didn’t know it was a feminist ideology. Today has been a day of learning. Another person mentioned that it comes from prisons before it was over taken by feminists. Though I don’t know how true or not that is. I do want to thank you all for being so helpful. This isn’t something that comes up often enough where I’m at.

That men can’t be sexually assaulted or abused? Would you be a little more specific please? All I could find on her was what she has done as a feminist.

I agree. That’s why I said it affects both sides equally. I think it needs to also include men who aren’t believed as well. When I think of rape culture I think of your final statement. Because it is wrong for men to be viewed that way. Thank you for speaking with me and allowing me to explain what I mean. It helps me to better understand as well.

No I don’t think it’s ok. I do think that sexual assault and abuse against men has been trivialized and normalized. Mostly by those who claim it doesn’t exist.

You don’t think it is trivialized or normalized in regards to sexual assault and abuse towards men? Towards the end of your comment I can understand where you are coming from and would Akin it to people saying men cannot be raped. Sexual assault and abuse are a big deal and should be treated as such. That said there is an issue when men are considered guilty before they have had their say and an issue with this concept of men not being abused or sexually assaulted. It should be addressed. Is the…

That’s a really good point. The definition doesn’t match the term very well. I suppose it has to do with who created it. That said. Would a reclamation of the term do it any justice in terms of representing men who have been assaulted or abused by women? Because that has been trivialized. Is there another or better term? If not. There should be.
/r/MensRights02/07/19 06:37 PM

I was looking at it per definition. a society or environment whose prevailing social attitudes have the effect of normalizing or trivializing sexual assault and abuse. And I’d say it affects me more

Oh I see the issue was the term rape culture. I didn’t know it was a feminist based term. I was looking at it more by its definition. a society or environment whose prevailing social attitudes have the effect of normalizing or trivializing sexual assault and abuse. And the above affects both men and women. Thank you for speaking with me on this 😊 Edit: is there a better term that could be used?

Why does recognizing that rape culture affects men just as much as women make me a feminist? I am arguing that men should be taken into consideration when talking about rape culture and the negative impact it has on men. Especially because of how men are viewed on rape culture as guilty before innocent and how accusations can damage their lives. And anyone who makes false accusations should be charged and punished for doing so. I’d argue I’m more egalitarian in nature. I actually think the pendu…

Rape culture affects both men and women equally. To deny that is to live on a fantasy. While each gender has different things that overly affect them it is important to not that while different they both have things and issues affecting them and we should be considerate of that.
