I’ve met neighbours and clients who had controlling husbands/partners. My ex had all of his assets in his parents’ names and all of the estate/trust stuff set up to avoid estate (death) taxes (as people of means do). Marriage wouldn’t have offered me any respite; he was broke on paper. Of course it happens the other way around too. I’ve seen women be REALLY shitty to men.
