Still a bad system because you'll end up getting paid on different times of the month throughout the year. Which of course isn't a huge deal, but it fucks with routine and budgeting. In this specific case though he said that they get paid every month like normal (so like a monthly salary but only for 28 days) and then got double payment at the end of month 12.

It's a horrible system though. You're losing 2-3 days of pay every month (except February) that could grow if you bought funds or stocks instead of letting the company sit on it until the end of the year. You're basically paying the company for not giving you your money. If you ever have the choice, do not choose to be paid based on 28 days.
