but the basic dynamic is the same: get the best bargain you can. Yes. ...and women are selling, not buying in a sense. They have what men want, and they hold the cards. Just the best they can get. Exactly

No, but the women make the final decision on the guy. They control it. most of the time. She can shut the guy down at 2, 3, 4 and 6. Women decide most of the time; most men settle for what they can get.

The entire exchange of the man showing interest (maybe even as far as asking her out/ for her number). Then, her sizing up the guy and deciding whether to oblige him or not. I guess that it happens online as well, although what information can be gleaned from each other is more marketing-related and may not reveal the big picture. edit: Men can only date in as high a range of attractiveness as women will allow them to. Generally, you're kept within your league by the women that would be willing …

I have never, not once, been asked by a woman to look at my dick. Two girl acquaintances asked to see mine in my teens. I was embarrassed because I was getting as hard as diamond, so I didn't go for it. So young at the time. Fuck, now I would have had it out before they even finished asking.

Mya in one of her songs proclaimed 'I can't stand a man who thinks he looks better than me'. I grew my hair out, and a lot of women tried to get me to cut it off. So, I get that.

I also hate when news articles don’t link their sources. I’ve seen too many instances of gross misrepresentation to trust them that much. Yes, you have no idea of who is behind them, or their motives. A good example are those statistics that claim that everyone is really successful in finding partners through online dating apps. If you get a little, most of the stats come from the corporations that run those services.

I think that it's because men have to proposition women, and men have a strong(er) sex drive. Men have to proposition women, and women normally make the decision as to whether she finds the guy acceptable. Women are less likely to settle, but men will settle more often because they wish to satisfy their sex drive. Men usually abdicate control of the process to the fairer sex.

Yeah, I don't believe the stats that are put out by those corporations that make people believe that their product works. Look at these companies that give to fake matches to try and get you to buy a paid subscription to reveal those matches. You pay, and then those matches disappear. You cancel your membership, but they keep it active anyway, and you don't notice it for a month or two. These are businesses that are successful by misleading people and even by ripping people off.

Cher and Alexander Edwards. He's 40 years younger. https://people.com/music/alexander-edwards-facts/ I don't know if these sort of relationships work out in the long term or not. But, I do like that they break the iron-clad 'rules' that some people try to place on whom others can partner with. Now, it's probably a little different when it comes to celebrities. But, still. Is Bryan Ferry worse than Cher just because he's a man? http://adventurel0veblog.blogspot.com/2009/07/amanda-sheppard-on-holi…

According to studies, somewhere around 25% of marriages these days started online. Yeah, but most of those aren't on the apps. No one is good or bad at the lottery. Some people are obviously much better than others at online dating. Online dating is basically shite. But, people are still blaming the users for its shittiness.

I agree. So much is lost in online dating. The whole "better pics!" and "send better messages" thing has to be seen for what it is. You're jumping through hoops with little chance of a payoff.

I think that we need to stop blaming men for the gender's general lack of success on dating apps. This whole thing of trying to get the ultimate pic, the ultimate write-up and sending literally thousands of "good and long" messages has to stop. It's just a big hamster wheel with men running on it. ...and for what? What's the payoff? What are the chances of a payoff?

Reminds me of a woman that I helped out to be nice. She made it clear that I wasn't her type, even though I wasn't interested in her either. She showed up at my house unexpectedly a few times, and she even tried to push her way in once.

A lot if the ideas and concepts seem to be too black-and-white for me, personally. I think that you're assuming that everyone that has the opportunity to date is actually dating at every chance. I think that some people take some time between relationships and other will be alone until they find somebody compatible. Sometimes, men just want / need sex. When they're not in a relationship, they sometimes try to slake their thirst with a hookup. Why a hookup? Because there are a LOT of women that aren't valuable as a long-term partner, but they are acceptable for sexual liasons. This may be because the women aren't that great looking, have some sort of emotional issues, kids, a bad track record in relationships, live farther away, are cheating, etc. There's a large population of women like this.

Some women have such a high opinion of their own appearance that they don't consider their standards to be "high". They assume that they're so attractive that they just have plain 'ol 'standards'. On the other hand, some women have low self-esteem or sometimes want to get married and have babbies quick. So, they settle, which makes them appear to have low standards.

Relationships are caused by ancient genetic programming designed to keep a human couple together long enough to raise children to adulthood. Keep in mind that before modern times, the maximum human lifespan was 40 years (usually less). Many modern long-term relationships are just an artifact of that programming. It still helps us raise kids, though. (I know that's not very romantic.)

39% of couples met through dating apps That's not the 'majority" of couples. The majority (the other 61 percent) didn't meet on apps. I will be willing to bet if this study was done today that number would be over 50,especially since covid happened. Bit of a wild guess there. If dating sites are so successful, it makes one wonder why they post fake profiles to get people to sign up and to buy premium services.

The common convention is that the word "rate" implies "percent"
/r/PurplePillDebate30/05/23 04:22 AM

In the majority of couples, the guy is older (51.2 percent). You can see here that nearly 32 percent of men are at least 5 years older than their mate in heterosexual relationships: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Age_disparity_in_sexual_relationships

Which is in large part why I'll never respect girls that show their boobs and ass online for $$. never, ever pay.

I think that it's true. They have more opportunities, they generally don't have to approach the opposite sex, and they (usually) make the decision on whom to date. They are also the gatekeepers of sexual pleasure.

Those apps have all gone downhill after about 2010 - 2013. In the last few years the majority of relationships have been formed from dating apps. Not true at all.

and I went from one or two matches a month to about 10-20 per day LOL. Or, maybe stop running in that squirrel cage of online dating and meet people in real life. Women treat those apps like Instagram for rednecks. You send them 'likes' or 'messages', which give them an ego boost. But, other than that, your just bugging them. Just as when men message women on Instagram. Your message is just one of dozens that she got that day. You get ignored.

Well, physical appearance is and always has been important. Online dating changed the game quite a bit because personality doesn't come into the equation at all unless you have good photos. That is, if you aren't attractive in your photos, women won't ever read your written bio. Looks matter in real life quite a bit, too. However, some men find themselves in situations where they can get to know a woman in person, on a personal level. If a guy is a good person and interesting in other ways, he c…

It is strange, if I think about it, that humans seem to be very gendered when it comes to determining attractiveness. It's because (most) men don't compete with other men for women. So, the physical attractiveness of men in the immediate vicinity won't change the situation.

"Woman Boss" or "Woman Doctor" implies that there is a different set of rules for her- but there shouldn't be and, often, isn't. She is a doctor- her prefix is no longer gendered, and neither is her profession. I went to a job interview once. The "woman boss" insisted that the new hire must have, "previous experience working for a woman boss". That's when I started to question whether the gender equality movement was legit.

Yep. A 6/10 IRL women thinks that she's 8/10 online. A man that's 7/10 in real life automatically drops to a "5" when he goes on a dating site. It's nearly impossible to match with anybody.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/05/23 10:11 PM

Even if we snapped our fingers and dating apps + social media went away; women would simply choose not to be in a relationship at all rather than accept any old joe blow who isn’t compatible. Dating was easier in the 70's and 80's though.

I'm pretty tall and not that bad looking. I own my own home outright, have zero debt and no kids. I couldn't get a single message back from single moms. That's when I ditched online dating for good. All of the women simply priced themselves out of the dating market.

Y’all really act like men can’t do bad all by themselves like they need women’s consent to monopolize them. Hoarding wealth, starving and enslaving the masses, killing off competition is just as much a factor if not more than just women being hypergamous. Even now this is the case, look how wealth is consolidated, how married men PURSUE mistresses. Women could use their sexual prowess to raise armies and take over the entire world. That's why I qualified my point with: if you're a man that has some wealth If you're both at the same level financially, then it's a wash. She can come after you for cash, and you can come after her. But, it's pointless. Also, if you have little in assets and cash, you're at little risk financially, unless you have kid together. Example; if you own your own home, and you have a woman cohabitate even for a short time, you're likely going to have to pay her at least multiple 5 figures to leave.

/r/PurplePillDebate26/05/23 12:30 AM

It actually happens. Some wealthy men dump their women and trade up again and again as the women get older.

The guy has to be a pro bean licker, and the woman has to be a sexual being and not a cold statue. LOL

I also think that outward physical appearance reflects what's inside as well.
/r/PurplePillDebate26/05/23 12:26 AM

Yep. Even if I end up alone, I don't want to be grossed out. Some women are disgusting. Also, you risk your financial future if you get involved with anybody. Most women don't have much or they are in debt up to their eyeballs. Which means that if you're a man that has some wealth, you're going to PAY her in a big way if there's a breakup. It's gotta be worth the risks.
/r/PurplePillDebate26/05/23 12:25 AM

Not really an opinion, but it's a trend online that happened that people deny. That there was a phase on online dating platforms (about 2014 -2016) wherein most women stated that they "were leaving the country", or "going on vacation" in their first or second text messages online. Thereby: starting a "chase scenario" wanting some kind of contact, but also being unavailable or trolling by making men wait 3 weeks for another messages, then nothing arrives
/r/PurplePillDebate26/05/23 12:21 AM

A lot of women are nuts just like men are.

For young people, it's difficult to get ahead. For some, living with their parents for a bit longer may be their one big chance. I don't think that living with parents is frowned upon as much as it used to be.

Some people are nuts, too. They'll blow up your phone, show up at your door, etc. I helped a women paint part of her house. Then, I was 'her guy' and I couldn't get rid of her. I had to practically kick her out of my house, and we never even had sex, ever. 😂
/r/PurplePillDebate25/05/23 07:36 AM

Probably trying to fill some hole in their life or soul. I often wonder if it's really about sex for some women.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/05/23 07:36 AM

It's different for a young guy that's ready to explode at a moment's notice, and a new partner is more exciting than a Lambo on nitrous. Those guy's brains are short-circuiting, while you're thinking more logically about the situation.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/05/23 07:32 AM

People also find comfort in negative ideas that go around in their head, even if those ideas are fallacies and hurt their well-being in the long run.

Too many guys out their think casual sex is their gain, your loss. You assume that men even think about that?
/r/PurplePillDebate25/05/23 07:27 AM

I think that somebody that really needs improvement (huge beer gut for example) would benefit more than say, somebody that's already somewhat fit. A man that's say a "7/10" would really have to work hard to get to an "8". But, somebody's that's a "4" could easily become a "6/10" just by eating better and wearing better clothes.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/05/23 07:22 AM

This virgin thing is for teens, or men that can get them into bed, like DiCaprio.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/05/23 07:19 AM

Very true. I think that online dating was the beginning of the hardcore reach-for-the-top standards. At least, when you meet in person, you can keep her focus on yourself, rather than her bullshit cell phone. Usually. Of course, women seem to get tripped up a lot when they stop swiping and actually meet some dude in person. Then, it's not as easy. They have trouble making the leap from pro-pics of abs/ marketing copy and the real world. 😂
/r/PurplePillDebate25/05/23 07:14 AM

That's quite a 'gotcha'

😂
/r/PurplePillDebate25/05/23 07:06 AM

But, I don't think that it's a grey area. Most women won't tolerate men that have multiple partner's no matter what you call it.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/05/23 07:05 AM

Women usually push for some kind of label on what's happening. If a guy's banging other girls, most women won't stay with him for long. There are some sl*ts that will, of course. But, most women have some dignity.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/05/23 07:04 AM

How often do you see very attractive men with "curvy" e.g. obese, fat women?? Name some Hollywood stars or rich men that like these types and are seen with them? /r/PurplePillDebate25/05/23 02:13 AM

It doesn't work the other way 'round for men, though. If you're a fat male, you're rated low. A fat guy is just considered an unhealthy lazy slob. A fat woman by some is considered to be beautiful in a feminine, hormonal way.

For the most part a man that’s a 9/10 isn’t going to choose a 4/5 even for the purpose of FWB I'm no "9/10", but I'm not going for a "4", as I understand a "4" to be. This might sound odd, but I often approach young, rather good-looking women, because in the back of my mind, the risk of being rejected is worth it. The reward is really high, so I'll take the risk. Also, I don't feel so bad if some near-goddess says, "no". LOL

I agree. I don't buy that many women at all are doing this. Women watch their men closely, and they don't tolerate cheating at all. I'm not sure why some are clinging to the narrative.

There is often a disconnect between cause and effect for some people. "X" happens to them, and they hear that the cause must be "Y". However, often we don't really know the reasons, or they may be a combination of things. High School is tough for a lot of people. I'm pretty old, I've travelled and done some things. But, I still get that cramp in my stomach and major anxiety if I walk into my old high school. I still can't believe that it still gets me. I tried online dating around the time that …

I don't think that this is real. There isn't a small number of men getting all the p*ssy. Most women are very careful about keeping tabs on their guy, and they don't share their men. Women find out pretty quickly if their man is cheating. I'm sure that there are some high-value men that do better than most. But, very few women are sharing the same alpha-males. Those are just games that people play. The reality is that they are either in a relationship or they aren't. Making it a grey area to prove a point isn't helpful. Also, any somewhat intelligent person knows whether they are in a relationship or not. Women are very sure to make those terms clear.

What people call luck, I call randomness. Imagine a chessboard where the pieces are moved by incredibly strong winds instead of a human hand attached to a thinking person, that is what life is like to me. The random strong winds might create an opening on the board in your favour or you may never get a chance. Good words. While women seem to be a part of a revolving door of dates, fwb, fuckboys. Women making bad choices, based solely on physical appearance. I don't know about other men, but the only time that I think of the FWB thing is when I come across available women that are sufficiently attractive and available for sexual relations, BUT they lack important qualities that would make them relationship material in my eyes. Online dating should have been the killer app, but it ruined dating for everyone except for the extremely attractive, and the very unattractive at the other end. It was so toxic that anybody who was unsuccessful on those apps was personally blamed for their lack of achievement. Prior to shitty sites and apps, everybody had to get to know other people in person. The entire person was considered, not just physical appearance.

If you have 2, then you have 2+ chances. If you have a large social circle, then you have lots and lots of chances. Meeting others is the number one thing that is guaranteed to increase your chances. The problem is that most of you (women) advertise yourselves online in spaces such as instagram and tinder. ..and now, cold approaches in public are considered bad by most women. Women are the gatekeepers of sexual pleasure. It's very rare for a woman to approach a man, or ask him out. Men do the asking, and women make the decisions. Men have little to no control unless they are the 1/1000 that is attractive and/ or wealthy enough. Men don't like having no control.

I saw a comment here that said Lena Dunham is a 2/10. I will give them the benefit of the doubt because I don’t know what photos they were looking at, but Lena Dunham as I know her (from the show girls in 2013) is at least a 4.5-5. Dunham is considered a "2/10" because she purposely tries to appear as gross as possible.

I agree; it's sad. A narrower and narrower population of men are being seen as being worthy of dating. I have to say that a lot of women will be left behind because of this as well. With the high standards, there will be a lot of women that will end up alone. Some might feel that they are better off alone if they can't get what they want. I can't help but feel that others will come to regret it later on in life.

Women don't want a 'nice guy' in the beginning. They want a feeling of excitement. It's later on that they want the 'nice guy' thing, when a relationship starts. ...and there's the problem. Or, you don't talk about it because you plan to ask them out, and you wouldn't want your pals to know if you got rejected. Also, IRL, men can't appear to be aggressively chasing a woman or women. /r/PurplePillDebate21/05/23 10:39 PM

I think that this underlines how men and women's brains are wired differently. What concerns me personally is what a waste of time following women on social media is. It's a major time suck, and there's really no payoff. A lot of the pics are filtered, fake. How much affirmation does a woman really need anyway? Maybe it's useful for them if they're making money selling a product or something. If I wanted to see some woman in a bikini, or naked, I could just google it.

I can picture in my mind what a woman will look like when she removes the makeup. For me, the attraction is that she takes all that time to look good when it's appropriate; she's not saying, "screw it, I'll just let myself go".
/r/PurplePillDebate21/05/23 10:29 PM

I don't think that it's an unfair advantage, as most men don't use makeup. So, it's a level playing field. Anyway, I'm a guy, and I wear makeup from time to time. It really worked for me. They even make cosmetics for men. Just be subtle; it gives you an extra advantage. It's especially good if you have dark rings around your eyes, etc. You don't go out like a drag queen, you just use a little such that it improves your appearance, but nobody notices that you're wearing it.

I think approaching complete strangers just going about their day is weird, doesn't really matter what they look like. This is the problem. So, you hope that there's somebody in your circle of friends that you can match with. Otherwise, you're stuck with online dating, which doesn't work. I suspect that the men that are successful with the cold approach rate very high in the looks dept., relative to their quarry.

I think that people had an easier time just meeting organically in the (distant) past. There was less competition, too. These days, social media and apps have increased the level of competition by several orders of magnitude. It's like going to a recruiter looking for a job with your resume in hand, and he remarks blandly how amazing it is that he has access to 10 million other resumes just like yours across the planet. So, you have to 'try' making yourself more 'desirable' and 'marketing' yours…

And considering that even 100k these days isn't a huge salary anymore. In cities like Toronto, a modest home costs a cool million. In Vancouver, it reached 1.3 million dollars. You can barely afford a home unless you and your partner both make 6 figures AND have a decent down payment.

I no longer have that young, idealistic view of relationships. I went through a grieving phase when I started to feel like this. Op's onto something here. There are TONS of singles around as you get older. But, you're dealing with people that usually have a lot of kids, went broke and are too old to ever make a comeback, their sex drive may be low, and most come from broken marriages. Most women's physical appearance starts to wane after about age 35. It's really the cheap side of the used car lot. I know that it's controversial, but I also think that this is why some men like younger women. You can go on a cruise or road…

The problem with today's world is that you only gain 'respect' by lighting yourself on fire to keep other people warm. Your boss feigns 'respect' for you so long as you also do the job of the person that quit last week. Your female friends 'respect' you for being 'their guy'; doing their house renovations and being on-call for them 24/7. Your family 'respects' you so long as you can hand them 500 to 1500 dollars when they come to 'visit'.

The way the term is used in redpill spaces basically sums up to a man who doesnt gets much attraction from women. I don't agree with that; a man could be very good-looking, fit and affluent. But, if he works a lot of hours in a bro-centric industry, he may not get out enough to land a lot of dates. He still has good value, but, he's just not available. I think that there's too often much emotion in the term, "low value". A low value person should actually be considered to be a person that would …

All that you have to do is record somebody on your phone saying something sexist. Take it to HR. The person that said it will be out, because companies fear lawsuits and bad publicity more than anything. We've gone far beyond the point where only a man can be held to account. At work, you say NOTHING unrelated to the job at hand, unless you're a big risk taker. It's not the local bar or club.

I don't think that cavemen thought that far ahead. They never had gender politics. Evolution made women into child-bearers and caregivers for those offspring. Men were providers and protectors. That's why our bodies are so different.

This is no doubt cos everyone gets depressed, stops thinking so much with their genitals and more with their depressed anxious brains, that fully know "love" alone is not enough. Also, people also get tired from day-to-day life, and their sex drive sometimes wanes as they age. Sometimes, people your own age aren't that attractive for the most part, and you're not really sure if it's actually going to be enjoyable, or that you're doing it because you're supposed to or something.

The scale a woman sits in is nearly completely dictated by how she looks and she has little control based on personality, achievements or accomplishments leaving less fortunate looking women with little room or recourse for improvement That's only at first. Physicality gets women noticed. Then, the rest counts for a lot when it comes to staying with her for something other than sex. A lot of women don't realize this.

Most men are completely invisible to women (I believe the same is true in reverse). If it were a restaurant, they aren't even on the menu. OMG. THIS SUDDENLY EXPLAINED EVERYTHING Thank you I should mention that most men scope out everything, unless they are really preoccupied. We rate women in our heads, particularly face, body, dress/hygiene. Then, an overall score is decided. It stimulates the pleasure centers in our brains. More attractive women get a very long inspection. Less attractive wom…

For men, that comes down to them seeking the best genes in a mate. For women, it comes down their valuing a provider/ protector that isn't too aggressive. It's from out caveman days. It doesn't translate well to computer apps thousands of years later, though.

Physical attractiveness is HUGE in the Americas. In other countries, how you treat your partner, or what kind of provider you will be is sometimes of greater importance. Or what caste your family is from. Or what size of dowry your family can pay.

It all comes from several decades prior, wherein the main reason for women to seek out marriage was for financial support. So, looks came second or a distant third, after being stable and ambitious. Back then, some men were literally dirt poor. These days, most men support themselves and probably have a little left over. Most women can easily support themselves. As such, finding a 'provider' isn't their first priority. Now, looks rate very, very high for women. The values have changed over time,…

There are women in the market, but I know that there's risk getting with them unless I can find one that's in the same place that I am. Personally, I found that as I got older, women my actual age (or close to it) were seeking significantly more mature men than I. So, I was kind of left with looking to somewhat younger women that wanted a slightly more mature, established guy. I'm talking about the world of online dating mind you. IRL, it's different.

The downside of that is that your potential mates are getting older and less attractive. Most will have kids eventually. There's kind of a zone where the opportunities are best. Later on, it becomes orders of magnitudes more difficult, unless one is able to lower their standards.

Interesting thoughts. If women aren’t able to get a man of higher stature then many opt to share, at least for a while. This most happens in a woman’s 20’s, maybe 30’s. Eventually the top guys pair off in their own league and the women are left to pair off with men in their league. All the while all of this is going on, women's attractiveness tends to drop drastically over that time period. Unless she really takes care of herself and has good genes. Meanwhile, men tend to age better in the eyes …

Smart women know the difference between being valued for the prospect of sex, and being valued for their potential as a life partner (or even as a human being). More specifically, women tend to get too much of an ego boost from being seen as a potential sex partner. Which really doesn't give them that much value, because that's anybody with a vagina, basically. As a woman, getting sex is easy. But, try to turn that into a really good relationship. It's difficult to do.

I think that we strategize all of the time when we communicate in order to gain some kind of reward that we seek. It's very complex and we usually don't know that we're doing it. Especially in the beginning, where there is reward to be had, and yet there is always some risk of a mis-step and the loss of a potential reward. For example, we to emphasize our good traits and habits first and foremost. While we reveal our bad traits more slowly later on once we have communicated how 'good' we are? It…

I think that what has overvalued women is online dating (or undervalued men, if you prefer). Even unattractive women get tons of messages from hungry men. So, it makes even average-looking women feel more valuable than they are, and makes somewhat attractive women practically unattainable. Here's the thing about respect. Men shouldn't be fooled into devaluing themselves in the work world. More specifically, they should never assume that working for less or even for free will get them future benefits or work. You have to ensure that you are compensated properly along the way. If you work your ass off, or if you are skilled in many areas, you WILL be given many times more work than the next guy. Yeah, approaching them takes nerves of steel, and (sadly) men approaching women anywhere is frowned upon now. The only time that it's really acceptable these days is if you have known the woman for a while, or are friends. Who has time or money to sit at a bar? Heck, it's barely acceptable to talk up women at a bar these days, anyway. Dating is so toxic now.

I'm convinced that there are a lot of lonely women as well. You don't hear them complain about it too much, though. But, what woman wants to do that forever? Or, when she's older and less attractive physically? Good luck. I also personally know a fair number of women that have a very strong desire to be alone…

In the majority of couples, the guy is older (51.2 percent). In recent years, a lot of people online really want to force the idea that people can only be withing a couple of years of each other, to try and make it as some kind of 'rule'. You can see here that nearly 32 percent of men are at least 5 years older than their mate in heterosexual relationships: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Age_disparity_in_sexual_relationships People find their happiness in their own way.

The only real reason for (significantly) older men to pick up a teenager is for sex. Good points. I have seen, however, that as women get older, they tend to date men that are older than them. The older that women become, they tend towards older and older men. I think that a fair number of people think this way. That's why you often see folks getting really really angry about relationships wherein there is an age difference between the two people in the relationship. While I don't know if it's true that older men outperform younger men in the dating sphere, I have read that women are perceived to reach their peak attractiveness around the age …
