I see nothing wrong with sexuality being a big deal when one starts over after 3 years of being dry (managed to make myself as undesirable as one can be). Otherwise, i feel that you misunderstood me but it's likely just me being butthurt about the whole thing. I honestly thought I did all the right moves.

You don't tell women how you feel Never did, wouldn't ever. I was talking about my best friend, who is a male. We're friends for 15 ish years now. What needs to change? Hard question indeed. I think it's the tension with new people. The solution is just putting myself in social situations as much as possible, which I'm doing. Semi-related question: how did you develop the banter/teasing "skill" or how does one do it? It seems you could have the answer seeing how you state that it took a while. You see, I've tried it a handful of times, but always ended up insulting people, rather than teasing.

I'm pretty sure those are the guidelines for when your aim is to hook up, or have sex with a new plate. From what I gather it's hated because of being close to useless for building rapport early on, so you shouldn't worry about too much.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
