I am sorry about the instances of racism you experienced. I don't live in the USA, but I have traveled there as I have family there. The worst racism I ever experienced was in the South of the USA. Well, normally, I have a simple policy of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it." But the way you explained it, the lack of passion can be due to so many different issues. When you add in an underlying issue like depression, it sticks out like a sore thumb. But I mean, you do you. If you don't want to change and she doesn't want to change, then that's when you know it's over—when no one is willing to make any changes or fight for it.
