-8	Were Western societies really patriarchal before the 2000's? People here don't seem to understand what the word 'patriarchal' means. Literally all it means is that the very people at the top, and the ones who made major decisions were men. So yes, pre-2000s were very patriarchal. Before anyone says, "but men were oppressed pre-2000s," yes that can still happen under a patriarchal society, and that's a seperate conversation. 1	CMV: Foreign brides make better wives for American men than American women do and American men make better husbands for foreign brides than foreign men do (from that same country). She might not be able to find a job in my country, esp if she is poor. You underestimate the education of a lot of people in third world countries, especially asian ones. Also, why would being poor mean that you can't get a job? –	Okay am I really high rn or do women do shit that would be really cringey if men did it? Well, first of all, there are quite a few men in the goth community. But I have noticed that they are often judged a bit harsher than goth women.
