It's possible to not date someone while also respecting them as a person. True story, (pre-FDS) I briefly dated a bisexual guy. Here's how it went Pretty cute, takes care of himself Didn't know he was bi. Didn't thoroughly vet. Imean, it would have been fine, except... Wanted to have anal sex even on our first time together. (I said no. He dropped it but this was an odd request. He also requested some other porny things I said no to) Why did he want anal sex? Well so he wouldn't 'have to use a c…

I saw this when the news came out a few years ago. Horrified, but not surprised based on what other people (who have lived there) have told me about systemic problems there preventing women from being independent. Just another day under patriarchy 🙃* *Affirmative action for men

- Skinny and not too tall - 5'4 to 5'10 - Straight or wavy hair, neatly kept, not buzzed short. Not balding/receding hairline - no or little facial hair. i hate this trend of hipster beards - no glasses - not super hairy (no unibrow, chest carpet. back carpet: fuck no) - piercings are ok but only small ones, no gauges, not on the body - tattoos are ok but not cringy ones - Good hygiene

I was thinking about this back when there was a meme- do you remember this one- where some cool and complicated imaging process would happen only to reveal a message that says 'send nudes' It was supposed to be funny as if that's a lewd but generally inoffensive message. This idea of soliciting nude photos (i.e., from women) is so normalized. I don't think anything badly on women that send them but I think we as a society are too pornified where we expect women to create lewd images or pornograp…

I totally agree, and this was my reason for seeking out something like this subreddit in the first place. I was tired of all the relationship advice that was firmly 'genderblind', basically acting as if people are all interchangeable and somehow acting like misogyny doesn't exist. It needs to be okay to recognize that misogyny exists when giving dating advice to opposite-sex couples. Doesn't mean life is over, doesn't mean the world is going to end, or that every single problem in the world is m…

The complete dysfunction when she's not home is this passive-aggressive way of 'punishing' her for leaving and not caring for him 24/7. (I.e., if he were single he would not have a problem of falling asleep in front of Youtube videos- he'd actually make it to bed) I know it's a silly sketch but I see elements of this play out a lot in real life.

Viking things are weirdly "in" right now with the LV white guy demographic- growing a beard, axe throwing classes, drinking mead from a novelty horn, scrambling for nord ancestry. It is always big, nerdy chubby white guys with a poor jaw line behind unkempt facial hair, and often closet white supremacist (how the viking thing is tangled up with fetishizing 'white' ethnic groups). There was a reddit front page post about this not too long ago finally because so many Redditors (see: white men of t…

Not problematic at all. I worked in service and there is no shortage of creepy older men who mis-interpret basic courtesy (or, not even that) as a person's availability to them. They have no self-awareness of how it's much creepier to hit on someone younger than someone the same age.

I wholeheartedly believe single parenthood is better than ending up with a LVM. To think how many times I have heard women compare their husbands to having an extra kid. If the husband isn't providing- neither financially, nor in caretaking- what benefit does he offer? He is actually a cost not a benefit. The rational thing to do is procreate without.

Yeah when my dad was upset at something incredibly minor he used to slam doors, slam things on tables, swear loudly, throw things. Then give me and the others in my family the silent treatment-- even if that minor upset had literally nothing to do with us. Although he never hit any of us it was scary (it started from when I was a young kid to a teenager) and made it feel like I had to walk on eggshells around him and everyone would be nice to him to get him out of it. So again, he never hit any …

In alt-right circles everyone is about 'tradwives' now. The exact reason why varies. If they do give a reason at all, most often it's an appeal to nature ("it's better for women to stay at home and not have as much power as male head of household- because it's natural"), using comparisons against animal groups, hunter-gatherer ancestors, speculation about evolutionary psychology, or describe long-standing tradition as a model for what's natural. If it's natural why do they need to evangelize it …

That sounds awful. I'm so sorry. Whenever I hear anyone try to have an honest conversation about the high amount of everyday racism (or sexism+racism) in Japan there is always a whole bunch of weebs rushing to its defense it's like sending out the bat signal for them. For a country with such backwards treatment of black people (especially black women) they've exported enough of their culture to have brainwashed people defend it unconditionally

A few years ago I got out of a bad long-term relationship. Although we weren't married it was a long one, spanning several years with lots of messy details and co-habilitation with part of that. What I learned from the whole experience is VERY VERY rarely (almost never) will anyone external straight up *tell* you to leave a bad or unhealthy relationship. It's just how things are. So if you wait for some third party to directly tell you to leave, you will wait forever and live in misery until the…

This articulates perfectly something I had trouble putting into words. Every LVM I ever invested in negatively impacted my productivity, because I was getting dragged down towards his level. For one of them, I sat down with him because I needed to talk to him about it. He would want to spend half the day together lazing around or just being in the same house lazing around. I'm really over this noise of "positivity". Just "be positive". Say it enough, in enough contexts the word loses all meaning. Should we always "be positive"? Surely there are cases where we shouldn't? You can keep repeating "be positive" over and over as a means of shutting down a contradictory view without addressing it. In this case, people are right to be grossed out by this relationship and seeing a person being exploited. We need to wake up to the fact that "consent" and "healthy balances o…

I've seen a similar phenomenon on My 600lb Life (yeah I watch trash reality TV) when it's about a woman with a male SO/caretaker. Pornography addiction is real, and is becoming alarmingly prevalent among men now that they all have access to it and have no real impetus to change. Women being disproportionately more 'clingy' is one of the biggest lies I have been told. There is a guy I dated 15 years ago when I was a teenager who is still messaging me. "Marriage is about companionship, it's not a transaction", we're all led to believe, meanwhile how common it is for men to actually view it as a transaction, one where they try and parasite and rip-off women as much as possible. For how many guys believe this subconsciously you got guys like this who go right out and say it. And yes it is absolutely inhuman and pathetic.

Joking? What's the joke? Super gross behavior. He might have a violent side that you haven't yet seen. Kudos for doing the right thing by recognizing it. With getting out, covid can complicate things but I see people move living arrangements/apartments nowadays at what seems the usual rate more and more. Definitely if you try to get out, you can.

I think a lot of men have this ability to talk from impulse rather than reasoning. Their thought process > Someone is talking to me > When someone talks to you, you are supposed to say something back > Quick, say a response. > Pick something reasonable and on-topic, like the last thing you said They don't rationalize about whether it even remotely makes sense given what the other person said, because they weren't active-listening or even thinking, really. And their lack of viewing women as equal…

This is so absolutely nuts I hope it is fake. In the event it is not I hope she can de-brainwash herself and get free from his trap. I would hope for the guy to change but I don't believe he will.

This is a real peril of dating in 2019-- this ridiculous expectation of constant online availability + constant IMing. It didn't always used to be like this. There was an entire world before 2010. Yet somehow now there's a tacit expectation that everyone should be slinging around these low-effort, low-value communications all day every day. How does anyone get to be productive doing that? Anyway, male entitlement to our time is a constant here and nothing new. Entitlement through texting is the …

It's up to you how to recover when you are sick, some people find it comforting to have another person there, some people prefer to be by themselves. I personally prefer to be alone. It sounds like you do too. You've already conveyed to him a 'no' (twice!) so he seriously needs to drop it. If he is really pushy when told 'no' it is a red flag imo. I don't know if it is the case here, but some guys will use "comforting a sick girlfriend" as a way to earn Niceness points which can be cashed in lat…

Looking back now, her defending this guy seems ridiculous and dangerous, but at the time I just wanted to maintain the friendship. I had just moved to a new city and felt really isolated, as an adult female I find it hard enough to make friends, and she was one of the few people I knew who had also moved there. Nowadays I see it clearer how bad this was, nothing is worth compromising my safety.
