You could tell her but be prepared that she probably has lost all her feelings for you. The work you have done on yourself should have been done before the divorce. You are supposed to do it for her not like now when you do it for yourself because you are doing whatever you can to try to avoid losing her.

How do you know they were in bed laughing? Did she tell you or is it your imagination?

Just so you know it’s often the other way around as well even though men aren’t as often going through with it which instead could lead to resentment or infidelity on their side.

But you didn’t have the option of one happy household. Perhaps for you but apparently not for her. People don’t leave if their needs are met. Not to say you did anything wrong. In a lot of cases some peoples needs are just extremely difficult to meet.

Many people feel they get more quality time with the kids after the divorce. If you only have them 50% of the time you make that time count. You can also do a lot of homework etc when they aren’t there. The biggest thing however is that if you and your spouse has a dysfunctional relationship that will drain many people and the toxic environment almost always affects how people are with their kids as well.

Of course it would not be a failure. You should strive to live the best life you can and for many people that is not staying together with your first or the one you married forever.

Seems like you have a solution that is the best for everyone. This is the kind of family settings many people prefer if they have drifted apart and don’t have an obsession about staying together at any cost.

In my country it’s so simple. You add upp all the marital assets on the day of the divorce and split it down the middle. Then you pay child support if you don’t split the custody 50/50 which is the norm. Hardly anyone needs to have lawyers involved and parents are generally friends afterwards which is the explanation that divorce here has much lower risk of creating mental health issues for the children compared to the US. When I read in here it seems like your system doesn’t really benefit anyo…

Problem is if you are not allowed to take responsibility. For example I was packing for a trip with just me and the kids. When I was done she unpacked everything and repacked it with the ”correct” stuff.

Your relationship seems like a really toxic one. When the dust settles after the divorce you will be in a much better place. One thing: in your next relationship leave your parents outside of it. Sounds crazy going and telling mom everything the other one does.

The failure seems to have been their relationship. The divorce was a success.

Ok, but isn’t the offensive part not to talk about your feelings with your spouse then? The mourning of the marriage that didn’t give them what they thought is just how their feelings work.

What exactly is offensive about it? Are they not allowed to feel that way?

It’s far from certain that staying in this kind of relationship is the best for children.

It’s normal too feel guilt. However she is a grown woman and you are not responsible for her life. She failed in making you happy and you are not supposed to stay in relationships that doesn’t make you happy. The guilt will go away with time.

What kind of question is that? Kids care about spending time and having a connection with their parents, they don’t care about if they had large house.

Don’t back down. Usually even people who divorce had a few good years in the beginning. You don’t even have that. Probably you two are incompatible. She will likely put in an effort to please you in order for you to stay but she won’t be satisfied and will start to resent you and that will kill it in the long term. Ending it later will be harder than ending it now. And for valid reason. The only reason anyone needs to divorce is that they don’t want to be married anymore. You don’t owe anyone an…
