Sweden has almost 100% required service. But a tiny standing military. The service rifle you are issued is YOURS it goes home with you. And you are required to practice with and qualify with that rifle every year. From a tactics point. Makes the country impossible to conquer. Helps keep crime low as well. Down side... they pay MASSIVE taxes because of socialized health care and things like that.

The only way that forced service would work is gender neutral requirements, AND no combat rolls PERIOD for anyone until they re-enlist for it. Do a minimum 3 years of service then reenlistment if performance meets standards. Make the only options out of service; fire fighters/ medical or STEM. Females should not be put into combat. Even on a voluntary basis. SOME females MIGHT be able to physically do the job but even less have the ability to turn emotions off and compartmentalize the situations they're in. Which can affect life and death decision making.

Medical and advanced sciences sure those aren't. But 4 years for a "business" degree? When all upu need is 1 or 2 class about the legal side of management.
