Does the gender of your marriage counselor affect the outcome of it?I ended a 30 yr relationship and we had gone to many counselors over that period, both men and women. Our marriage could not be saved in the end by anyone because neither of us wanted it to be and that is the biggest factor. The fact of them being a man or a woman doesn't matter, how good they are at their job. Like every profession, everyone isn't an A+, everyone isn't as flexible as they think they are. There is also a big factor in fit and personality. My ex and I are strong people that don't… | /r/Divorce_Men | 29/01/25 11:11 PM
When did life get better?Time is different for everyone, don't try and find a one size fits all. It is a process | /r/Divorce_Men | 09/01/25 03:43 PM
How long did it take you to get back to dating after divorce ?My opinion and based on the replies is everyone is different. Some started a long term relationship a few weeks after breakup and it lasted, others have never found a reason to even date. Many say to get comfortable being single first before you start dating. | /r/Divorce_Men | 03/01/25 11:26 PM
Separated but living together until we can sell the house. Any advice managing heavy emotions and strained dynamic?I lived with ex before she moved out and it was the worst period in our 30 years together. You are living with someone you don't want to be around, all the negativity is highlighted. My advice is one of you needs to move out | /r/Divorce_Men | 02/01/25 01:34 AM
What are your 2025 goals post divorce?2025 goals (I am going to kill these!) 1. Finalize my divorce 2. Make my home, “my home” not the place my ex used to also live 3. Meet new people, male and female not romantic 4. Do things out of my comfort zone 5. Sometime later in the year start dating again | /r/Divorce_Men | 30/12/24 07:22 PM
Mental health checkIf you are questioning "That I'm jumping too quickly to the next thing" then you are. It is that simple, time and space is what you need | /r/Divorce_Men | 24/12/24 07:29 PM

Recovery TimeI was with my ex for almost 30 years, been separated 1.5 yrs, legal divorce can't happen until next year. It took me the first year to get to a better place. "Recovery" will be a lifetime but I have moved on. For me places like this a talking to other divorced people was the best thing for me. It took me the first year to realize I'm not alone and these feelings are common. That realization changed everything for me. | /r/Divorce_Men | 27/11/24 12:05 AM
Getting a divorce at 70 years old - any advice?Gray divorce here, ended a 30 yr relationship. You only live once and it sounds like your situation wasn't living. Best of luck and enjoy, don't fear the world out there. | /r/Divorce_Men | 24/09/24 08:47 PM

Don’t Give UpThanks, this is a light at the end of the tunnel for many here. | /r/Divorce_Men | 18/06/24 06:39 PM
When did you realize itWent to counseling in the first 5 yrs, then again on and off for 25+ yrs. Three adult kids later after 25 yrs married it wasn't working anymore and I remember telling a friend going through divorce that I am going to head in that direction. 2+ years later, living separately and going through divorce. 30 years togeather and a mutual divorce. I am starting to look at it as a successful marriage, 30yrs, 3 great children, and a lot of good memories. Maybe everything doesn't last for ever? | /r/Divorce_Men | 13/06/24 10:27 PM
Men’s in the 30s or older that are trying to date, How do you pick up girls and like where do you start? Not the norm. Many men on reddit write about how dating apps are full of scams amend at men. there are many pages dedicated on reddit to the issue. You must be doing something right? | /r/Divorce_Men | 05/06/24 06:52 PM
Men’s in the 30s or older that are trying to date, How do you pick up girls and like where do you start?Similar but older, 59M after a 30 yr relationship that I was faithful in, I don't think about women the way I did in my 20's. I don't think about flirting or trying to pick someone up. That part of my brain has been turned off and I haven't found the on button. Several times recently after a situation I realized I total missed a woman's cues. In one case these two women were the only one within 25 years of my age at a festival and invited my to join them. I turned them down because I just don't … | /r/Divorce_Men | 04/06/24 10:55 PM
Why do i feel like ending life is a solutionYou are in the men's forum. However one thing you will learn from men or women about devoice in reddit is that there are bad people out there that mistreat others. You need to get out and not look back. It may take time but you will be happier in the long run. | /r/Divorce_Men | 04/06/24 06:37 PM
Don’t ask questionsShe is not worth ever asking a question like that again. She doesn't respect you, you don't need to ask her anything. | /r/Divorce_Men | 03/06/24 07:38 PM
Late 30s dating...oofAgree with some of your comments. I ended a 30 yr relationship, on-line dating wasn't a thing when I met my ex so I am even more intimidated and uninterested in the whole APP thing. Many divorced M W have told me they have really enjoyed meeting people on APP. | /r/Divorce_Men | 03/06/24 07:32 PM
So tense upI am in a similar situation. 58m 27 yrs m, 30 total live in the SF Bay area. Wife retired early with health issues and I supported it 5+ years ago. Now with divorce the question becomes how long do I have to pay her alimony. I say until I'm 63 as we had discussed for the last 10 years. Now she is thinking I should keep working for many years so she can live a good life in her retirement while I keep working to support her. This this is a mutual divorce. | /r/Divorce_Men | 31/05/24 10:08 PM
Anyone want to make a new friend today?I am here to support you in any way I can. I too am in a situation that I want to meet new people and start a new life. I have just started meetup and other on-line groups. Good way to meet people in person. Every day I think how great it is that I have the rest of my life to have new experiences. May sound cheesy but it is true, looking forward not back. | /r/Divorce_Men | 28/05/24 10:13 PM
Red flagsHaving negative comments and attitude about every prior relationship. If one person thinks everyone else is always the problem, don't ignore it! | /r/Divorce_Men | 24/05/24 06:34 PM
