I agree. And to be fair when I re-read OP's post, I can see that the distinction of hookup/relationship material was a fair point to make because they started by saying "Women like sweet/nice guys. Oh really?" I don't think they really disproved that at all, given this distinction.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/07/25 10:12 AM

Good point but I actually think your example about male fantasies of promiscuous women might still say something about male sexual desire. It seems contradictory because that's not what men generally want in a long-term relationship but it could be an example of having a desire for certain traits in a short-term fling that differ from a long term relationship.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/07/25 08:50 AM

OP is just saying that these fantasies probably say something about what women desire, not necessarily that they want the fantasy to actually happen (an obvious example is rape fantasies). In light of that, I feel like your example at the end of your post kind of defeats your point before it, as in the fantasies associated with bdsm did say something about the sexual desires of people in the bdsm community.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/07/25 07:21 AM

To say romantic fantasies are not realistic so it doesn't reflect real life is oversimplifying. It doesn't need to be realistic for it to tell us something about what people desire. I would imagine Hentai is similar to regular porn, in that the subjects often have certain traits that viewers want in women irl (large breasts for western viewers, neotenous features, etc). It makes a lot of sense to make their characters attractive to a large amount of viewers, unless they're appealing to a niche a…

I think redpill people would argue that while there is some randomness, there are some patterns in social norms worldwide, and one could say these are caused by biology. Like social norms around infidelity/chastity for women might be a manifestation of male desire for paternity certainty. The idea is men are instinctively disgusted by promiscuous women because they would have been more likely to commit paternity fraud in the past. In fairness, it might not be so simple because while they are def…

I'm not sure that red pill people necessarily believe in male/female brains; one just needs to believe they are different enough on average to explain a lot of social phenomena but there can still be overlap. There is also some overlap in strength and height between the sexes but the fact that males are generally taller/stronger is partly why females are generally more cautious at night.

Don't watch porn, don't masturbate to people you are attracted to in your own life. This isn't leaving very many options for single or virgin men to get sexual gratification, unless they're able to masturbate without thinking of anyone.

Fair enough, but I am not generalizing to women irl. I am only speaking about reddit, especially this subreddit.

I was getting at the idea that men's preference for porn with younger women is a manifestation of their sexual preferences. To be fair, a lot of women's disgust for age gap relationships where the male is older also has to do with culture i.e. gender roles, like the perception of younger women being more vulnerable and easy to manipulate. I do have to say there is something odd about this belief being so pervasive when I see women all the time on reddit talking about how much more mature, respon…

There are many feminists on this subreddit and feminist subreddits like twoxchromosomes that are anti-porn. I agree that it's wrong to think that the vast majority of feminists are anti-porn though. It's a controversial issue among feminists. I also have doubts that the manosphere people have much interest in selling the idea that feminists are anti-porn, since they also tend to be anti-porn for different reasons (they view it as weakness and a source of social decline).

I think a lot of women on reddit are disgusted by male sexuality. It is very easy for me to pull up posts about how women are disgusted by the idea of men watching teen porn (try it yourself) and many see it as a dealbreaker/red flag. In reality, teen porn is easily one of the most popular porn genres, even among older men. Probably a majority of men have watched it at some point. I think a big reason why they are disgusted is because women do not generally prefer men younger than themselves. Th…

I think that's a poor analogy since most people (besides red pillers) consider it bad that women feel obligated to have kids, even if they are not actually forced. Your analogy could be used to argue that "while men are not forced to approach, the feeling of obligation could be a societal problem nonetheless."

It is fine for women to lament that most men can't meet their standards, but it's common to be unnecessarily cruel and insulting about it. We see these things all the time on this subreddit. If that is what happened here, then I am not surprised why OP felt defensive and unless their comment history makes it obvious, you shouldn't default to thinking OP is a hardcore misogynist.
/r/PurplePillDebate23/06/25 12:46 PM

That's a fair point, but kind of nitpicky. My guess is they probably made that comment assuming a dual income where there should be some fair division of housework. I think the important point is that most people agree that it would be an unreasonable standard to insist on only dating a partner if they will pull most of the weight in a relationship.
/r/PurplePillDebate21/06/25 11:37 AM

Of course there will be women willing to do that in some cases. They still think that's inherently an unreasonable standard.

Cognitive biases can make an issue look smaller/bigger than it really is. Also, the paternity test is only a few hundred dollars to prevent a few percent chance of either living a lie or experiencing a life-altering revelation many years in the future.

I wouldn't do a paternity test if I thought it could ruin a relationship and there was no suspicion. If there is no offense taken though, it's a pretty reasonable thing to do. From my perspective as a risk-averse person, it's only a few hundred dollars to avoid a few percent chance of a seriously life-altering revelation. tbf the few percent stats may be overly pessimistic in some cases (like for more educated or wealthy couples or something like that) but I don't think there is much information…

You're probably right about the problem really being lack of social skills. I just mean it's really common for blue pill people on this subreddit and feminists online to blame misogyny for lack of success in dating, which is silly.

Many or even most women feeling offended by their partner asking for a paternity test is completely understandable in the present state of paternity testing, where it's pretty uncommon and mainly done when there is genuine suspicion of paternity fraud. However, I think this can be greatly diminished if it became normalized, like in the business contracts example given above. And I don't think that it should be mandatory; it's more like the test gives certain rights and privileges to both parties…

I think that's a poor analogy because the point is many OF addicts are not like regular consumers who might complain about low quality goods; many think the whole enterprise is evil and yet they partake in it. The proper parallel in the case of a restaurant customer is a person who regularly goes to restaurants, even though they think the whole idea of restaurants is evil and so are the people who work in them. A better analogy would be a drug addict (like an OF addict) who thinks drug dealers (…

I think this article makes a lot of good points. There does seem to be more overlap in severity than I expected, probably because the Western framing and naming of these issues biased me. I'm pretty sure the most severe forms of FGM should just flat out be illegal in the US (just like how doctors should not provide euthanasia to mentally unstable people), but I'm not so sure about the most minor forms, as long as they're consensual. Sure there's greater evidence of medical benefits for circumcis…
/r/PurplePillDebate31/05/25 06:45 AM

The situations are pretty different so I don't think you can judge MRAs as caring less about circumcision than feminists do about FGM from their lack of success in ending circumcision. FGM was pretty easy to make illegal because there's basically no opposition to banning FGM in the US, Circumcision is very popular in the US and common in many Western countries, so that would naturally make it a lot more difficult to ban it.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/05/25 10:35 AM

Incidentally, I was reading a wikipedia article about female genital mutilation and it said that it is mainly performed by women. According to Pew Research, 64% of women believe abortion should be legal in all/most cases, compared to 61% of men. The Gallup poll numbers for abortion support aren't as close but it does show women and men's support for abortion were both pretty similar until the past couple years (and I suspect a lot of the increase for women was because of the Dobbs decision). Any…
/r/PurplePillDebate30/05/25 09:58 AM

I seriously doubt that but I'm willing to read some sources on how that might be the case.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/05/25 09:31 AM

It's an oversimplification to suggest that things are the way they are mainly because women are better at protecting other women. Preserving the modesty of women/girls is an issue in which patriarchal men and feminists are often in agreement, for different reasons.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/05/25 09:24 AM

I agree that the safety of a woman is generally considered more important and attacks on a woman's femininity are taken more seriously than attacks on a man's masculinity. I think there are good arguments against circumcision but I'll be honest in saying that I really don't think it's that bad, certainly nowhere near as bad as FGM. I think feminists and red pill people could both find many aspects of life in which men or women are worse off than the opposite gender.

First off, I'm not super concerned about this situation. If the pregnancy were caused by birth control failure, I would think less negatively of it because evidently that means there was no intent to have kids to begin with. I just don't like the idea of having kids with a random "high quality male". If an old man wanted to have kids with basically a random young, intelligent woman and they agreed to do it, most people would find that distasteful and so would I. I guess the situation isn't total…

I don't think they are mainly appalled that an older woman has sex with younger man. If I had to guess, it's the part about having a kid with a man with whom you have no emotional connection, just because you think they will have high quality sperm.

I am sorry to hear about what happened to your husband. This should be a top comment imo but when it comes to reddit, you usually need to scroll down pretty deep to read the good comments. I don't see why attempted murder is a big stretch. I think that is actually a pretty reasonable conclusion but I'll admit that after reading more about the case, I believe there is reasonable doubt.

That's something I never really agreed with. If someone obviously is attempting murder but fails, they should not get a lighter sentence than if they had succeeded in my opinion. You said women are biologically superior. I addressed your points by saying this "biological resilience" is irrelevant to academic performance unless proven otherwise. What you're saying makes as much sense as me saying "men are stronger" as an explanation for them being better/worse students.
/r/PurplePillDebate22/05/25 12:58 AM

That definitely explains why boys do better on the SAT than girls, and they especially do better on the math SAT. You're probably going to say that test is sexist or something but then you give away the game: cherrypick things that girls outperform boys at (most of which seem pretty irrelevant to academic performance) while calling any counterexamples sexist. Congrats on reinventing nazism though.

It's a matter of degree. Most of the time physical bullying does not rise to the level of severity where peoples lives are threatened. Being unpopular and ostracized as a kid probably has more negative psychological impacts than getting into a couple fights or being shoved into lockers (which are more common forms of physical bullying) but it's not as bad as severe cases of physical bullying, like getting rocks thrown at you or getting sexually harassed/assaulted.

It amazes me that you would take greater issue with my comment than the one above. I am not really sure what it means to do things that show that I care about men. Do you mean like volunteering for men's domestic violence shelters? If so, your standard would be pretty ridiculous, since it would imply that most women don't care about other women either. This statistic is not very relevant to the issue of crime rates of children with single mothers/fathers. It's a pretty big leap to think because most criminals are men, single fathers (vast majority of whom are not even criminals) would be more likely than single mothers to have children who end up committing crime. I think a better critique is that single fathers (and hence their children) tend to be in more privileged demographics. For example, in the US, single fathers are mostly white men, w…

tbh I'm not a red piller who is personally invested in the percentage of false rape accusations being high. I think OP is mostly right to say minimum and I will explain in the clearest terms I can. The amount of proven false rape accusations is going to be lower than the amount of actual false rape accusations to the police, assuming the methodology to prove that a rape accusation is false is very accurate (big assumption to be fair). Roughly speaking, Actual False Rape Accusations % (AFA) = Proven False Rape Accusations (PFA) % + Unproven False Rape Accusations % (UFA), which implies that AFA % = 5.5…

I personally don't think they are being disingenuous. I don't know why you keep ignoring when I write a few percent of births are non-paternity events (and I should've added that most of these are undetected). This chance is similar to flipping heads 5-6 times in a row or rolling snake eyes. I bring this idea up as a solution to their concerns about how in its present state, a paternity test seems like an accusation of infidelity. I also said it would preven…
/r/PurplePillDebate24/11/24 06:57 AM

I will respond point by point. A child DNA test is not the same as a paternity test because the former is much more comprehensive and more expensive. A paternity test measures only a few genetic markers in order to tell a child is not biologically yours. So the cost benefit is very different for a child DNA test and not obviously strictly better, which is where the reductio ad absurdum fails. I think if it was just about being worried that your partner will dump you for asking for a paternity te…

I don't think he's moving the goalposts. If there are 100000s to millions of red pillers out there, then only a small fraction of them would need to spend money on red pill merchandise to make these people millionaires. I want to add that it is hard to even define a red piller. Does it mean someone who is a fan of Andrew Tate or Jordan Peterson (then there would be millions of red pillers) or is it something more specific? Hard to say but I would assume under most reasonable definitions of what …

"And many more people think that is a ridiculous waste of resources." How is that a ridiculous waste of resources when there is a few percent chance of false paternity (a significant life altering event)? A few percent is not that low. That's only a ridiculous waste if you think false paternity is not a big deal. "No, it is an extraordinarily stupid proposition on multiple levels, most notable of which is that it seeks to solve a problem that already has a solution. If you question paternity, ge…

Many people believe paternity tests should be automatically done so it doesn't have to be a choice where the woman feels like they are being accused. Why would people oppose this when the cost of a paternity test is only around a few hundred dollars (probably costs less than this if done widely, since companies selling these services are likely trying to profit even though the demand is pretty low, so fixed/capital costs are high) while the chance of false paternity, a seriously life altering ev…

Very similar vibes to "hitting the wall" or "where have all the good men gone"

In general, it is true that men can, in some (but not all) cases, opt out of parenthood by putting up for adoption but I didn't consider this because the financial abortion debate is about whether or not a father should be allowed to relinquish parenthood when the mother wants him to retain parental obligations like child support. In this case, the father has very little choice to opt out of parenthood because they usually have to pay child support.

I said some time before 24 weeks, not at 24 weeks, because I am not very knowledgeable about these things. I completely respect the idea that we need to balance the interests of both parents. You made a good point that the deadline for financial abortion shouldn't be 24 weeks, but I don't think it should be 0 weeks either, as is currently the case.

I am having trouble understanding your point. Do you believe that the potential father shouldn't have the right to decide parenthood during the pregnant women's pregnancy? Because the right to choose parenthood for the pregnant women is a byproduct of their right to bodily autonomy? If so, you are conflating necessity and sufficiency. Bodily autonomy is a sufficient reason to support the right to choosing parenthood but it is not necessary. I wrote in another comment about how the right to choos…

You're correct that a women's right to choose parenthood automatically comes from their right to bodily autonomy, but that doesn't mean the right to choose parenthood isn't valuable in and of itself. I would still support abortion even for hypothetical incubator babies if a couple wanted it. Bodily autonomy is completely out of the picture here. In other words, the right to choose parenthood exists independently of the right to bodily autonomy and I doubt most financial abortion proponents would…

Constant fear and paranoia? Men are considerably more likely to be attacked or killed by strangers than women, even if we discount gang violence. I think the main reason why society just plays along with this notion about how women have it so hard is that they think violence towards women is inherently worse than violence towards men. There are plenty of men out there who believe that women and children must be protected at all costs, and that men's lives are more expendable. It is no coincidenc…

"I keep hearing Jordan Peterson say that women are attracted to men with the capacity to generate and share wealth, while also saying that IQ is the single best predictor of wealth, so it seems that a corollary of that would be that IQ is the most attractive trait in a man." OP, correlation is not transitive unless the correlations involved are really high. But here, the correlation between IQ and wealth is pretty small. If you throw a 7-sided dice, you have >50% chance of beating the guy throwi…

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
