Yes I've heard of this criticism, and I'm not doubting that certain notions within NLP are not scientifically proven per say, yet. But similarly hypnotherapy wasn't (isn't?) either, but people still find that it does actually help them overcome fears, change their perspective, etc. I think one of the underlying primary functions of these systems, which some might say is also the problem, is that they work best if you believe it's working. This is called the Dunning-Kruger Effect. The more you know about something, the more you're willing to doubt yourself and your ability. The inverse is also true about those who know little or nothing about a topic feeling overly confident about it. The trick here is to recognize you might be doing this, get out of your head, and go practice in the mindset you were in when you were doing fine. Your state will make the difference you're looking for. http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dunning%E2%80%93…

That quote perfectly fits what's going on for me right now. Been talking to this girl a while and she's playing aloof and disinterested. Now I've landed another girl, and first girl is almost going literally nuts for my nuts. She even said those words exactly "she's not even that pretty!" It's a simple yet beautiful formula.
