IDK, I'm not sure I'd call this compartmentalizing. Apologies in advance for the incoming essay, but it's always bothered me that so many men take pride in their ability to "compartmentalize", all the while implying that it's a positive trait. The thing is, the whole cultural notion we have of males "compartmentalizing" implies that their sexual behaviors (e.g. having sex with multiple women at a time, following hundreds of naked women on social media, jacking off to violent porn) are, well, com…

THIS. A woman is at her most vulnerable when pregnant. Pregnancy and the months following childbirth are when she needs the most safety, security, and support from her partner — both emotional and material. This whole thing also reminds me of how much society constantly applauds men for doing the bare minimum as a husband and father, when we forget what a deeply strenuous and excruciating experience childbirth is for women. Even with all our medical advancements, it's an extremely physically pai…

Explains why they can all work together as a class to oppress women. Looking at the study OP linked to, the KEY here is parochial altruism. The authors define parochial altruism as "ingroup favoritism and outgroup hostility." More testosterone --> more parochial altruism --> more ingroup favoritism (for men) --> more outgroup hostility (for women).

I love the fact that FDS gives us a chance at having that culture, albeit online.

That's true, but from the comments I've read on here, a lot of the negative publicity leads to women coming over to FDS out of curiosity and agreeing with our points. While I understand your concerns about women being put off from FDS as a result of popular sentiment, I don't think it'll prevent women who are ready for FDS to find us.

Depends on how libfem/pick-me your therapist is. I and my friends have had borderline-radfem therapists or otherwise women with extremely high standards and boundaries in their own personal lives who wouldn't have batted an eyelash at any FDS talking point. Really depends from therapist to therapist.

There are so many fictional men I admire and love and they’re not even all that magnificent. Just kind, intelligent, well-kept and compassionate. Haha, that reminds me of this post: https://hogwartscastle.tumblr.com/post/648806679174119424/whats-your-type In all seriousness though, I wonder how many women would be as into the idea of a heterosexual relationship without the existence of romance novels, songs, movies, etc.? It's Disney Prince Syndrome. It's mass propaganda full of false depictions…

Hi there! Indian American woman here. There are many, many factors -- too many to list in one post, but here are a few of my observations: There is so, so, so much sexual harassment in India. I don't think our western FDS sisters can even IMAGINE. Men are not held responsible AT ALL for this, and so this COMPLETELY normalizes everyday street harassment. Women are expected to expect it, and the men that don't necessarily perpetrate this harassment feign ignorance of the problem. This normalizatio…

Welcome to FDS! You're on the right track, and it seems like you've been able to pinpoint a bunch of red flags from the relationship that you weren't able to initially. Continue focusing on yourself, on your goals, on your friendships, and on your health. Internalize FDS principles and work on your mental health (particularly any concerns about seeking male validation in a misguided attempt to address your insecurities) before dating again. A lot of us here on FDS have partaken in pick-me behavi…

The other commenters have already pointed out some of the more obvious red flags in your case, so I'm not going to repeat them. Instead, I'm going to recommend re-visiting the handbook. The FDS consensus is that a single date is far too early to even begin considering whether or not someone is "the one" for you yet. Refer to the handbook for red flags to watch out for and keep vetting over a long period of time. Also, always keep your options open and go on dates with other men if you can. It's …

I think that if you have plans to go back to school, you'll have much better luck finding like-minded women in school than on Bumble. School can be a great place to both network professionally and make long-term friendships with people who have goals similar to yours. If school is going to be remote for you, I understand that can make it tough to forge connections with others. In that case, it might be worth trying to reach out to people in your program that live near you and meet up in-person w…

"I do think that, regardless of whether it is innate or socialized, women tend to be less shallow than men, and be attracted to personality more than men are." I think this is honestly just a supply & demand thing. There simply isn't a large enough supply of good-looking high-quality men. And so women try to prioritize other characteristics in order to expand their options. If more men put in the time and effort to groom themselves, dress well, and be fit, male hotness would become less scarce a…

What on earth does "not in a relationship" but "exclusive" even mean??? For fuck's sake. Age gap red flags aside, let this be a reminder that your exclusivity is VALUABLE and should never be given away freely to any man before you know your relationship with him is on solid ground.

Agree with your take, but I'd go as far as to say that "sex" should be removed from the bottom-most tier and placed on the second tier instead. Humans simply do not need sex the way we need to eat and breathe.
