I can see why it would be harder yes. I grew up in a small village and nothing is keeping me there anymore. I just don't have any common interests. I think it's reasonable to want someone with similar interests. Maybe I read too much into it. I just figured it would be more important for him to care about you than to care about animal cruelty. But maybe it's enough if he's kind to animals, rather than full on vegan? I just don't want you to limit your options too much. It's clear he's not going …

I'm sure he exists, in urban environments. Traditional men are not going to be into it. But why does he have to be vegan? Maybe you should look for someone who's currently eating normally but open to trying. Being vegan will hardly make him a better partner? Maybe there are some vegan cooking courses or something. Or men doing yoga and related lifestyle choices. Try and find someone through that. I do actually know quite a few people who were into this living in London. So they do exist. Even th…

I think these sorts of ideas don't get created in a vacuum. When I went through this phase it was because of past experiences and dissapointment in my lack of success. It may not be the most mature thing to start hating on all women but you know.. women do it too. And there is so much information online that you can't really tell if it's real or not when you don't have actual experience to be able to tell. It only takes one or two bad experiences to get you traumatized for years.

I think all of us can relate to some extremely awkward moments of wanting it too much.. Like professing your love to someone you texted with for weeks but never saw before. I'm almost over it.. but damn.. at that moment I just wanted to disappear. I have to admit though.. she was really gentle about it.

I was shocked to read those comments but there are quite a few reasonable ones including the one about it being a phase. She might make her way back out like I did when I got into red pill stuff. Which I consider problematic now. It's not all factually wrong but misses the point by cherry picking stuff. I'm kind of hoping that it's a real mother posting this with genuine concern.

Refuse to apologize (take responsibility) for anything that YOU didn't do. And they are not really looking for apologies.. it matters little to them what the individual does. The individual only serves to prove them wrong. They need cherry picked statistics and mental constructs to explain what they are feeling. It's like conspiracy theories, really hard to prove wrong.

Some of these groups are counter groups to begin with. This will always be a thing as long as you have imagination and tribalism.

You absolutely have the right to do as you please.. as long as it doesn't adversely affect others.

I'm glad you got out when you did. I don't know why we tolerate the abuse and controlling behaviour for that long.. it's just enabling.

Why are you arguing in the first place? No opinions were ever changed that way. Technically anyone who says they are a feminist are one.. there is no official membership or bible to clarify viewpoints.

Here's a quick reminder on what you commented earlier "Aw you poor little man.... are you worried that women will treat you like how your gender have treated us for thousands of years? Cry me a fucking river" Now as your question is loaded I'm not even going to bother answering. Have you ever considered that male behaviour is a trade off.. you don't get to cherry pick. Every positive trait has a toxic component. Being perfectly mellow in turn means never taking risks, never offending anyone and …

To be fair.. that's not true. We all have the capacity to think black and white and put the whole group in the same basket. There are men who do it and everyone did it before feminism.
/r/MensRights03/04/21 08:03 PM

The answer is yes then. You think you are allowed to treat men as badly as you please because in your mind we are all perpetrators anyways, or predators in training. Disregarding the fact that the majority of men don't commit crimes. Should I be judging you based on the worst examples of women? Men are most affected by male crime btw.

Are you excusing behaviour based on a past none of us have lived in? That's insane. Should I blame you as well for every bad thing a woman has ever done to me? I thought we were past this childish stuff.

This is not a problem with masculinity.. it's a personal issue. You should try and work through it. Give people a chance.. they get wiser as they get older. I know it's easy to get jaded.. it's hard work to push against it.

There a lot of reasons.. maybe the most honest one would be self-interest. Just like women or black people I don't necessarily believe that things will just magically work out with everyone being equal. The fact it isn't seen as a serious concern maybe means something.

I'm sorry. I know someone who fell victim to this and I definitely didn't treat her like that. Or if that is how she perceived it then I was just quite shocked and not sure how to deal with this information. I think it's super sensitive and you need to be selective with who you share it. Because a lot of people won't be able to relate or understand just how deep the pain goes. If in doubt you need to assume that they mean well but are ignorant. Sadly she ended up lashing out and hurting me as we…

I don't see what all the fuss is about. I'm critical of a lot of stuff the guardian puts out but this story is perfectly balanced in my opinion. I don't feel anyone is underrepresented. I'm going to assume that something triggered you.. which lead to this.

I refuse to use that term but I think there is some truth in it. My friendships have always been surface level and we don't talk about serious stuff. And I mean leading by example and acting virtuously.. no matter what.

I think if men were to actually support other men more and let go of some of the competitiveness. Maybe I'm wrong here but I think most men will never protest the way women do. There is a line we don't cross and so we suffer in silence. I find it to be true based on my own experience. I still believe in individual responsibility as well so intervention on a state level feels wrong. If we could ensure education isn't rigged against men despite female teachers that would be a start. Fight some of …

I do it for anyone. And I appreciate it in return. I can see myself doing it for chivalry but only if there is no entitlement and I feel like it.

Oh yeah, undoubtedly. They've also had less training up to this point as girls don't do that stuff. But they could learn if necessary. I'm actually fairly bad at throwing... complete failure at darts but I was ok at axe throwing when we did it.

Why even entertain a conversation like that.. Manipulative to the max And why did I watch this.. no better way to get triggered.

I don't know where you are getting this idea that women are not reliable. I know I've had my share of entitled women.. and them having a hard time accepting feedback and what not. But I don't have any doubts that they are reliable. I guess I've had plenty of hard working examples growing up. From europe btw. The only reason I'm sceptical of women at work is getting cast as something I'm not. Because they have fallen for some political ideology. Clearly not every criticism of women is sexism. I'm…

I think plenty of men don't get to talk either. There is this attitude of.. you have to make others listen. If you wait for your turn, you'll wait forever. Don't let them interrupt you.. and be confident that your opinion matters. Difficult when you are starting out.. but eventually you'll get confident enough. We have a new starter and she tends to ask if she can say something.. I just want to tell her to not ask and speak up. And I think I will.. for her sake.

Wouldn't that same barrier exist the other way around? So men are effectively discrimated against the same way. I think that's perfectly understandable. Most men don't get along either. There is no secret boy's club. When I don't get promoted I just can't blame women for it. Women do get accepted but they have to prove themselves just like their male counterparts.
/r/MensRights01/04/21 06:49 PM

Don't. Give them a chance to think for themselves, no matter what the result is. We already have too many people trying to educate others. Fix yourself. You don't even know what's good for people in this day.. how could you help someone from before 1900.

This whole paragraph is just meant to be an insult and make him feel better about himself. Nothing else needs to be read into it. Just ignore.

I think there is a group of people.. men and women.. who like to externalize problems. I used to be that and to some extent I'm sure I still do. So if life doesn't quite go the way you want or expect you blame it on vague concepts. This could be anything.. racism.. glass ceiling.. society.. That doesn't mean they are always wrong. But you have to take responsibility. You will usually be able to tell by the reaction you get when you hint at their part in it. So people who are not happy with their…

How many of them are there really, though? I think it's a myth with some vocal outliers. I was ready to support women as long as I saw their concerns as valid.. when a lot of it turned out to be fake and hypocrisy I changed my mind. Can't imagine trying to score points bragging about how much you care about feminism. Can also imagine that my honesty was what killed my last relationship. The problem being her, not honesty.

Yeah well my mother will see it as ridiculous at that moment. But when something doesn't go her way she will say it's because we are against her and she's a woman. No.. you are just being completely unreasonable and emotionally manipulative. If you ask nicely I will help you. If you expect me to do exactly as you say just because and ignoeing what I need.. that's not fair to me. I'm afraid my mother is a lost cause.

Yeah? That's good. I'm going to move to germany when the pandemic levels out. I was in the UK before and people there are just unreal. But maybe it's the industry that attracts crazy people. It's spilling over into austria as well, not nearly as intense, but still. Hot topics among students.

Are you telling me that you can't have her removed from your home? You are not in a relationship.. nor does she live there. Can the police not just show her out?

I'll just take that at face value. My only response is.. you will never achieve an environment where every individual gets the perfect nurturing to come even close to equal opportunity.

I would stay far away from any labels.. but certainly the feminist one. Being for equal rights (and responsibility) is all you need to be.

I think there are very valid issues that women have and they shouldn't be dismissed. But I'm having trouble sympathizing when nobody listens to my own issues. My own mother is now calling me sexist.. when I've wanted to support women all my life (to my own demise) So yeah.. your stepsons are absolutely lucky to have you.

You are saying this like it's fact. I'm not sure it is. I wasn't really referring to anything specific.. be it race, gender or any other category. The thing is some people do better in life than others.. some are (noticeably) more intelligent. And if you are telling me that it all comes down to bad parenting and bad luck I would probably disagree. In the end it's kind of ridiculous to talk about how well someone could do x if they don't choose to. And why should you.. do something you fancy. And…

You are talking about equal opportunity. It is a nice goal to have, but we can never reach it. Everyone has some advantages and disadvantages, some are biological.

Don't feel like you have to justify it to them. It sounds like they got triggered the moment they caught a climpse of what it's about. Everyone is so charged, there is no hope in having a calm conversation where you get to share what you actually had in mind. It's a losing battle and you were found guilty from the start. Your viewpoint is valid.. and this post alone shows that you care about what others think. Maybe more than you should.. since they are strangers with possibly irrational views. …
