This hits hard. I’ve been working on this - but its easier said than done. “For survivors, healing begins when they stop trying to convince everyone else of the truth and instead begin trusting the truth they have lived. Your worth was never determined by the story your abuser told. It is determined by the life you rebuild after the abuse ends.”

My ex has convinced my younger kids that I’m emotionally abusive, a pathological liar, controlling and manipulative, and accused me of being a narcissist. I want to tell my kids their mom was the one diagnosed with NPD, but this is not the time to share it with them.

Sadly 100% this…..I’m 18 months into a contentious divorce which has cost me over $100k and I’m living through this exact scenario. I just want it to be over - I can’t take this anymore (the divorce not my life). My ex was ordered to get a psyc evaluation which came back with NPD. She’s doing everything above and worst has alienated my kids against me. In my case the professionals all see what is happening but the system is so slow that we are just responding to all the crazy. Thanks for sharing…

Hi Lucky - I was dating an amazing woman with kids out of her house who understandably was looking for someone who could also fully focus on a relationship. I have kids who are in their early teens and had to the challenge parenting with a toxic ex. I would have dinner with my kids every other day, and so I couldn’t fully commit my time, and looking back I would feel guilty if I didn’t spend time with my kids when I could. She could tell that I wasn’t fully present, nor could I do things like st…

Agree with your sentiment. I’m 51 , was married 25 years , and now 18 months into a contentious divorce (one which I would gladly end quickly if I could). I too may need to part with $1M to move on, and to stop burning money on legal fees. I realized I can’t sit around years waiting for my divorce to end. I’ve been working on myself for years, and turning 50 really put a perspective on how I want to spend the rest of my life finding my own peace and happiness. I started dating 7 months after fil…

Thank you for sharing. I’m so sorry to hear about what you are going through, and I know personally how it feels to be the one who has done nothing wrong to be treated as if you are the one that can’t be trusted around their own children. The alienation is the real abuse, and yet it’s just allowed to continue. I hope the best for you. I hear you about showing up so they see that you never gave up - as difficult as that may be.

Going thru a high conflict divorce with no end in sight. We were ordered to get evaluated and my STBEW was diagnosed last week with Narcissistic PD and my diagnosis is Mild Anxiety (which is expected given the HC div). Funny thing is for years she would call me a narcissist so this must be so infuriating to her. Unfortunately she is a successful doctor and so she can drag this out forever - and has promised to fight the diagnosis. She will also fight until she has 100% parenting time with our 3 …

Appreciate all the input - Update: thankfully DCFS saw through the claims and came back with an “unfounded” finding. Apparently also making it as harassment (by my spouse). Its relief they did not believe the lies but sadly the harm has been done to my kids.

No orders of protection/restraining orders. Went out and got a criminal attorney to communicate with dcfs and investigators. Even more $$$ towards legal fees. Sad as I don’t think there will be any consequences for alienating my children from me.

Absolutely right - My daughter is 14. Old enough to understand her actions, but not mature enough to understand the consequences it has on me and our relationship. I’m saddened because our relationship will never be the same. I don’t trust my STBXW, but its hits hard when you lose trust in your own blood. Apparently the GAL interviewed my daughter right after the allegation and got her to admit that she would say anything so she wouldn’t have to leave her home. I understand she doesn’t want to l…

I share your pain. My wife saw some messages between me and Xbox buddies from 15 years ago when I was 30. Admittedly, it was immature toxic banter, where we called each other “homo”, “gay””pull up your panties” and other things like “babe,” “cutie,” and making mock-romantic comments back and forth. Also mixed in were jokes about sex and women. Nothing else, just 15y/o messages between guys. According to her straight men don’t make homosexual related jokes to one another. Apparently these message…
