I wouldnt say medically necessary however the paper you provided does more to highlight the best of what circumcision has to offer than it does to argue against it. I've repeatedly used the word benefits. And I still think the word was appropriate. There are many papers discussing circumcision and it's counterpart for females. If I'm correct, and I can find it, it is from Columbia possibly (don't take my word for it). Since it ruled out any benefits for a female it isn't allowed but the same cannot be said for males. However in many instances parents wield immeasurable influence over their child's life and since religious practice is allowed, and circumcision falls in that category, it remains legal. Perhaps he had a different interpretation than Jesus? But this whole "I don't agree with something from the Bible so I'll just omit or remove it" is something I don't buy. It would seem that suicides are much more preferable with a gun than any other means, as the data shows, but plenty of suicides, as people have pointed out, are not.
