My ex definitely started to treat me worse and value me less when he realized I loved him and probaly wasn't going anywhere. And eventually, I did leave. He wanted to reinforce the story in hishead, not work on himself. This is all subconscious. Women do the same thing. Its human nature. We do the same thing with, say, money. Look at all the lottery winners who lose all the money in 5 years and wish they had never won it! We have to work on our inner story or we will subconsciously sabotage ours…

Yeah I'm not surprised. I've seen that attitude. Some people just want to be butthurt. I'm quite small, 5,1. I have dated guys of all heights. After some stuff happened to me I preferred shorter for a while because I didn't like the feeling you describe. But the guy I'm seeing now is someone I've known for 15 years, and trust implicitly, and when our friendship changed, I didn't have the nervousness i usually do with tall guys now, I found it exciting. But I didn't need to build trust, it was al…

Unless their ambition is tied into a caring field like nursing (I'm just staring my prereqs and it still takes a LOT OF WORK), but I'm noticing the stereotypes in media now.

Haven't seen the movie. The guy I'm seeing, we both worked on his birthday. I went to his house after to drop off his presents, but we went out that weekend, when we both had time. It's not that hard.

I haven't seen the movie. But the funny thing is. Nathan is the name of my first bf. And the name always seems to be attracted to lvms. Nate and Kevins.

Have you seen the portraits of Henry VIII? Most men probably see that conveniently leave out that he was the freaking king of England.

My ex used "fuckboy" as his most frequent insult towards other men. Took me a looonnng time to realize it was from jealousy, that he didn't actually dispise that behavior, he just despised that he COULDN'T do it. He was also constantly making comments about how he was short and he bet I wished he was taller. I was actually really attracted to him, but that slowly died. It was the bitterness that killed it. The INSECURITY was unattractive, far more unattractive than being short. Being tall is nic…

Well even before I started working again, he said he was intimidated by "all the cool interesting things you do all the time." I have a lot of hobbies. I paint, I used to read runes once a month at a local mystical shop (precovid), I have been published in anthologies, recently took up archery, although that was after the scote. I do shit. He liked the girl on disability who didn't drive. I told him when we met that I hadn't originally been this person and I wasn't going to stay in this place. I…

THIS IS IT. My ex actively talked me out of persuring a better job, because "I know how bad your anxiety is, and I don't want you to get into a position you can't handle." I want to be in the medical field but was working retail part time. Actually at that point I wasn't working at all cuz of covid, and he kept talked me out of going back to my job. 2 weeks after I dumped him, I went back to my retail job. 3 months after I dumped him, I was interviewing for caregiver positions in nursing homes. …

I mean, it’s that whole stupid “be more than this but less than me” thinking, and with as little as men are bringing to the table They want to feel like they are impressing you. But ..... most of them aren't impressive. Like, at all.

And while I want those men caught and jailed (OBVISIOUSLY), I always pity the poor wife, who has to live with the guilt that she didn't see it, the disgust that he touched her, and the pity and and whispers from other people. Those poor women. I always think of the BTK killer specifically, because I was around 17 when he was being tried, and he had a whole family and went to church every week, everyone was shocked ....

He said he was interested in japanese culture. But he also called himself a skeptic and subtly negged my beliefs, and if I was going to japan, I'd like to go to the Buddhist, Shinto, and Daoist temples ... so if he was sort of ragging on European animist beliefs, I can't understand how Asian ones would be different..... i just got the feeling the part of the "culture" he liked was the stereotype of asian women being all dainty and submissive. And I felt no need to clarify or argue with him.

He was 31 and still lived with his momma when we broke up, despite making plenty of money. And I am still fighting with people on the dating subreddits that "doesn't live with parents" is a reasonable boundary in your 30s. Roommates I will consider on a case-by-case basis but I still consider it a red flag that he isn't ready to start a real life, UNLESS he is the homeowner and renting out rooms. But every "I take care of my mom" situation I've seen has been a lie, the mom has been fine and the …

That's understandable. But let me give you a warning. I thought my introverted ex didn't like people, so he wouldn't cheat on me. It was comforting at first and made me feel emotionally safe. I'm bubbly and outgoing. My social battery will die after a while but I am fun until then. Men like my ex are drawn to that engery and light. But it turns out he wanted me to procure the girls he wasn't confident enough to get himself so we could have threesomes. 🤢 it became a BIG thing between us. He even …

My last ex was so introverted he would never leave the fucking house except for work, and to grab food and bring it home (before the Pandemic). I had to BEG him to do ANYTHING. I'm not fluent in anything but English, so I've called myself a "language groupie" before, as it seems to get across my level of interest. I started with fictional languages as a teen, from Lord of the Rings. Now I'm big into history and I have taken classes in Old Norse and have some background in Latin. I'd like to learn Greek. As a pagan I want to read the original sources in their original language! I can pick words apart and I can read a little of Old Norse/Old Icelandic, but I only pick up…

Not just A woman. A beautiful supermodel who makes as much money as him, but is always put together and ready to clean his house and have sex on demand (but only the way he wants it and not complain if he's too fast/can't get it up/won't go down) who is only devoted to him and won't have sex with other men, BUT also won't demand a label.

Yes, that exactly. And in my case a lot of my shit comes from trauma that I am NOT unpacking with a man. Noway, no how. It's still difficult with some of the women, it's hard to find someone you click with, and this last year and a half, I've had like 3 therapists quit and I just gave up trying to get to know a new one. It's been a rough year for everyone.

Good to know that my instinct of disliking the majority of Male therapists I've met is correct. Women are just more caring than men. Men are power-seeking.

Just to add, a very small detail in a whole post that is completely wrong on all levels. I've dated older men, and WITHOUT FAIL, my sex drive was much higher than his, every time. 3x a day? LMAO.

Thing is, I was okay with FANTASIES. I told him THOUGHTS are okay but it would never, ever happen. He was the very first person I had been with since a major trauma, and he KNEW this. He KNEW it. He didn't realize how special it was that I could be with him, and not only not have panic attacks, but ENJOY it. Sex to me is sacred. Its union. I wasn't willing to cheapen it. Even though I have in the past. And I do sort of feel as if I'll never outrun that. I've had two threesomes but they were awkw…

Sister was smart enough to not be involved in this toxic family, which reinforced the "I don't want to abandon her" thing. Never met her. Heard a lot of bad things about her, but in retrospect, I wonder if they are true. I'm sure my abusive parents say a lot of crap about how awful I am for not being involved in that dynamic. He also spun that he was saving up to buy a house. Really, he was worried about "abandoning" his mother. They had a really weird creepy relationship. She coddled him and turned him into her replacement husband/emotional support/eternal baby. It was super bizarre. She also HATED me. I felt like the other woman. And in a way I was.

I almost ended up moving in with that scote last year! Ended up leaving his ass. He still lives with his mommy, despite making WAY more money than me. I'm kind of ashamed to say that it was hard to break up with him. I really loved him. I'm not sure why.

I want love. More than sex, even, i want to be held. I hate that i either have to be breaking down in ugly sobs, or having sex with someone, to have a long cuddle session. I want touch. I want to feel safe in someone's arms.

That really won't work for detoxing from bad men, especially if the dick is good. My issue is I love sex and have a high sex drive, and I'm not attracted to many people. When I find one attractive AND the sex is fantastic....... you see the problem

Eh .... better. Healing is a process. My brother and I had to cut our parents off completely, and for a while we lived together to support each other through trying to get our lives together. Grossest thing about it was he was constantly saying how similar to her I was. Which to me was a very negative comparison to begin with. I felt like he was trying to turn me into her, and then getting angry at me for it. Whole situation was messed up. I feel sorry for him but am glad I left.

HOLY FUCK. I thought it was weird that my ex momma's boy slept in her bed til he was around "only" 6 or so and his older sister was 8 (they both slept in bed with her, his dad slept in the basement ..... ). Older sister was apparently wise enough to eventually stop talking to them, and apparently that's why he "has to" stay with her so she won't be "abandoned" again ..... growing up and becoming a functional adult should be the sign you did WELL as a parent, not abandonment. SIGH.

Jesus I just had flashbacks to my ex. I told him repeatedly that I felt like I was dating both of them, and he would say things like "it's hard to balance both of your feelings " and I'm like...... you realize dude, I've been in an open relationship before and the things you say sound like we are in a polyamorous relationship????? She would kiss him on the mouth in front of me as a way to lay claim. It was freaky. He still lives with her. He'll be 32 next month.

My last relationship started as a Fwb. Never. Again. We had different definitions of when the "real relationship" part started, even tho I flat out ASKED him to be my boyfriend (also never again) so there would be no gray area. He claims not to remember this conversation. He's either lying or I wasn't important enough to make an impression. Spent 2 and a half years with this guy. Wasted it. Never, ever again.

Also, not the same situation AT ALL, but you just convinced me to trust my gut and unmatch with a guy on a dating app who creeps me out. There's something cold and almost psychopathic in his eyes, and it sets off alarm bells but I was trying to give him a chance and wondering if it was my past trauma clouding my perceptions. You convinced me to just unmatch and trust myself. Thank you.

Me, too. One of our last arguments, when I once AGAIN tried to explain how it made me feel. This argument had been a circular cycle we went through over and over. Bisexual woman who hates anal sex, here. I am almost ready to give up on men entirely, but It sucks because I actually prefer (sorry for the vulgarity) a good dick when the guy knows how to use it. Only been with women a couple of times and it wasn't very fulfilling in the same way heterosexual sex is. This kind of crap is why I will probably not tell another man I am bisexual, if I ever find one I like/trust enough to date again

My problem is that it seems like, currently, my sex drive and porn watching is linked. When I am depressed its easier to not watch. When I feel good about myself, and it's starting to come back, and I especially don't to want go sleep with someone and get attached (and I will), then, porn. I am trying to break a lot of bad habits and I'm finding that some of my bad habits have bad coping mechanisms attached to them.

I'm trying to quit. Longest I've gone is about 3 months. Yeah, women can be addicted to porn too. I'm not proud of it.

No, that would require me to want to be your friend. After this tantrum, I don't want to be around you at all.

Yup this whole thing is the truth. Holding onto every scrap of affection and getting attached is so hard. I am still learning to build the walls up. I will be alone but safe.

Didn't the latest mass shooter literally shoot up sex workers? The asian massage parlor guy, he was a customer (I don't know if it's TRUE but someone on Facebook said they did the happy endings, and well I don't do news because its depressing) and blamed them for "tempting" him. If it's true, it means that it doesn't fucking work ANYWAY, because violent men are VIOLENT, point blank PERIOD.

I really don't want to be a single mom. I have seen my friends struggle and I'd rather not. I'd rather not have children. Some women can handle being a single mom, I know my mental health couldn't. If I don't get a good partner, I just won't have children.

I worry I will never have children though. I have time to find love, I can find love at any age, but my uterus isn't going to last forever. I'd rather never have children than have them with the wrong man. But the is still something that worries me.

I thought I had done this, the finding my worth in myself part, not the second part yet. Well, i fell down again recently and learned another hard lesson. I still have a long way to go.

I know, its just frustrating, because the rest of the world won't often see it that way. When a white supremacist is Christian people don't condemn all Christians, but when you're from a smaller religion or just one that is not considered "mainstream", guess what people like to focus on? Anything sensational. Sigh. Also, the fact that he's wearing fucking horns? HORNS? biggest sign he is a larper that doesn't know wtf he is talking about. No Norse (Viking is technically a job, not a people) helm…

Oh, it gets worse. He's tattooed with sacred symbols from my religion. The pagan blogosphere is NOT HAPPY right now. And, apparently, there's been reports that he ends QAnon meetings by saying "Praise Jesus", which if true. ..... he calls himself a shaman, says praise jesus, and is defaming sacred pagan symbols. Soooooooo what does he believe, exactly?! Is he a Christian larper or is he one of those "throw everything together" types. Either why I am PISSED that a symbol I've worn for 20 years is…

I was 18 and in an 8/9 year relationship with a man who was 30 when we met. He told me he wasn't attracted to women his own age, I asked what that meant for us, and he said he didn't know, but we would cross that bridge when we came to it. I was foolish. I thought our love was strong enough. I thought, "men start with physical attraction but he must like something about me". I was wrong. The last 4 years or so we were a completely dead bedroom. I was too old and ugly for him at 23, I think was w…

They never wait for a woman for her work or career. Look at r/relationships or r/AskMen. Guys expect women to wait, but they will never reciprocate. Not worth it.

Even if work was crazy, the "will you wait for me" line is ridiculous. You aren't going off to Europe to fight the fucking Nazis. He either lets you go completely, makes time for you in his schedule, OR, he still "dates" you but accepts that that you may find a man who actually wants to lock you down (assuming you want to let him). Those are the options.

Also guarantee this guy didn't develop anything remotely interesting about himself. These types are boring drunks, who have nothing to talk about. No hobbies. I paint and write and garden I guarantee I have things to talk about - I have actually had exs say they felt intimidated by all the different things I am doing all the time. Sorry I'm not boring???

Even if he DOES fall in love with you from that, YOU are now sexually bonded to someone you may not have wanted to be if you had been thinking straight without oxytocin. This happened to me. First year, was actually really good. I'll admit that for MY personal journey, I probably needed this. I needed to believe a man could care about me, about my pleasure (the sex was FANTASTIC) and that I wasn't entirely sexually broken. So I refuse to 100 percent talk badly about him. HOWEVER, as soon as we t…

This is a narcissist thing. Having this issue with my female roommate, amoung many others. The reason it's so very, very noticable in men, is that narcissistic traits and behaviors are REWARDED in men far more than it is in women. Society EXPECTS men to act at least a little bit narcissistic, even the ones that aren't the fullblown narcs are often strangely entitled.

I'm white woman of a minority religion and I have had this happen. I have literally had a man say to my face "I've never had me a Pagan woman before." I was so shocked and speechless, I didn't say anything. I wish I had said something like "and you won't." Or anything. At all. I just stared. There is a stereotype about Pagan and Wiccan women being sluts, unfortunately.

They have done studies (in classes of universities) and iirc when men thought the conversation was "balanced" the women were only speaking 12-15 percent of the time. 20 percent of the time, they thought the women were "dominating" the conversation. Twenty. Fucking. Percent. To be fair, I don't know what the class discussion was about, and maybe they just didn't like what the women were SAYING. But I'm being FAR more fair than they were.

I am soo sorry. I see you and support you. I don't have any family either, although in my case my brother is more of a victim than I am. Our father fucked us up really badly. But we cut him out completely and have also made it our goal to better than all our other family members. "Don't be dad" is something we used to say to each other, because even if it was small, seemingly harmless, with OUR father was probably the WRONG thing. Yes, that is exactly what bothers me too. They have been taught their whole lives that their only value is their bodies, of course it seems "empowering" if that is what you think your worth comes from. It's a horrific thought.
