While i agree that the mainstream view is that women aren't as poorly off as some feminists make it seem, the common "stats" that are perpetuated (wage gap, rape victims in college, etc) are still pretty pervasive because so many people either can't be arsed to look up numbers behind the facts or can't understand them. There's still the underlying attitude that this is a men's world, even though who's better off varies wildly by region and country.
