This is terrible, but I had to finally ghost my unstable stbx and tell myself he died. It's the only way I can process the "loss" and keep myself from speaking I'll of the dead!

If you are a man of faith, I joined a DivoreCare program. They have in-person and online group options. It's national. Has really helped sharing this journey with others going through the same thing. Some people repeat it even after they've been divorced for a while.

You said your relationship with your son "took priority". Seems you have answered your question.

Yes, I exist! But I ended up enabling problems that turned toxic. Trying to figure out what I'm doing wrong. 😔

I'm seeking that same peace, except I'm a woman, grateful to be on this sub to learn and grow.

I finally started to realize through therapy my husband is not safe for me, and not just sexually but neither emotionally. The years of addiction and infidelity have demolished what I thought we had. I really thought I could do it, after all, it's all my fault and I'm making his life so terrible. The triggers keep me in a state of fight, flight or freeze. Some days I see why he calls me crazy. I feel my husband deserves someone better that me. I'm too battered and broken. His stance is, he filed…

Yes, I thought this was cruel. And, at this phase I'm really seeing the level of toxicity I've been stuck in. I'm hopeful, but I will need therapy long-term.

Same here. Separate rooms but he keeps coming to my room to "watch tv". I had to put a stop to the sex. It made me feel even more used, degraded and to protect my health. I told him early in the divorce, I didn't want to feel I've been reduced down to a roommate, friend with benefits. Just like the rest of his women and ex wives. It's what he's used too and what he wanted all along. No commitment. I hate this, but this divorce had to be his idea or it wouldn't go well. I didn't want to divorce a…

Yes, and life keeps happening... There are deaths, illness, children graduating and getting in their own relationships that I struggle not to let my own pain get in their way. Im trying to manage my own life with a disability and what my future will look like. We have a small farm so there's that and it's day to day. Then we lost a son that I can't even totally grieve because of all these distractions. I hate him for screwing up our life and I love him all at the same time. I think he's relieved…

This was the last of the holidays for us. We're divorcing in a few weeks. I'm incredibly sad. It's bittersweet. I probably should be relieved after some of the horrid things that went on in our marriage that I dare call it that, but I still love him and I grieve for good parts, also what could be. I wish you the best.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
