Well I guess my experience as a man has been different from what I am reading here. I am at a stage of my life that I'm done with hookups. I date women because I wanna do cool fun shit with people I am attracted to. Traveling, gokarting, bbq picnic, bachata, hiking, museums, whatever. Yes this includes sex, which I consider an important part of getting to know someone. If she wants to withhold sex until we are in a formal serious committed relationship then that's great, but it means we are not …

I keep reading downright unbelievable shit in this sub, has a woman truly never held a door for you as an adult? Where are you people living? I am 6'1 190lbs in a country with an average height of 5'6 and people both men and women hold doors for me all the time, as I do for them. A date will most certainly do it for me if the circumstances are appropriate.

I read that. I am bringing it to question. I think that in the current dating world, the amount of men doing that don't seem to be a lot.

Do men really offer commitment from the beginning? I don't and never have. Dating is about getting to know the other person over a certain amount of time before deciding to enter a more formal relationship. I think the complain some woman have with the casual stages of dating is that if the interests goes down, things fizzle quickly. I think that it's fair.

You said dating is a one way transaction, is right there on your post. And I am very much including romance in the equation. Back rubs/massages? She cooking a famcy meal for you? Gift exchanges? Learning a bit of your hobby to know more about you? Don't know what your experience with dating has been, but something seems amiss. Romance is very very much a two way street.

If dating to you is a one way transaction where a man gives romance and the woman takes, then you are doing thie dating thing wrong. Dating is about spending quality time together and sharing experiences with a person you are attracted to.

I left Canada for "other places I would want to live for the rest of my life" in large part because of this attitude. Far too many people don't realize just how rich and varied the world is, and resort to broad generalizations and ethnocentrism in ridiculous quantities.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
