I'm confused. Why aren't you spending almost every single night together?

Please get over yourself, $90k is not "rich" and especially not if she's an equal earner. I feel bad for your wife being married to such a calculated man without a natural provider's instinct.

Yeah. And as a fellow type A, I'd also say that sometimes we don't know the best haha It may seem that your parenting style is "optimal" based on your initial research and logic, but try to get more advice from other parents (who have kids at different ages), your family, read about different parenting ways in different cultures etc. to challange your thinking about how you want to parent. And of course, at the end of the day you have to know your kids and what parenting style their personalitie…

I don't mean to minimize your feelings, but I'd encourage you to reconsider - if everything outside of the parenting works, then maybe counseling (maybe within your church if you're spiritual or honestly just deeper conversations between the two of you) is the next step. Divorce is generally pretty irreversible and your issue seems workable.

a more interesting question is, did anyone regain it after some time? i’m a divorcing woman crashing this sub because it’s honestly more real than the emotional divorced women sub, and i’m also going through the same. i wonder if it’s a temporary thing

I strongly believe that a spouse/kids come before the rest of the family.

It's not enough for a divorce though. We'd have to file as no-fault and it'd be contested and all a long process

I don't have fully baked-in answers for you yet, but I think your comment is very well-written and insightful. Part of it is that we went through some serious health challenges and only recently were able to pause and reflect on what we actually want - I just think his and I got to different answers and he refused to communicate on it for whatever reason. It may seem sudden to the outside world but is just how we operate emotionally.

I wouldn't do that. But I do worry he's going to do that for me, either when I buy a new condo to move out to or by requesting spousal support during divorce. We had some initial conversations about potentially divorcing and he says he won't do that but 1) I can't predict how his family will influence his thinking over time - tbh they're all kind of spiteful, vindictive, pro-Trump, anti-immigrant (I'm an immigrant) people AND all attorneys 2) his feelings can change if I start seeing other peopl…

Hang out with his family, helps take care of our dog, play video games, gamble, etc. He has very limited interested which is starting to bother me more and more every day

I think it's incredibly mature for you to recognize the role you may have played in her cheating (but don't blame yourself too hard, it was still her who made the final decision). It sounds like you did a lot of work on yourself and have developed a lot of self-awareness overall. I hope it benefits your next relationship - genuinely, good luck :)

We don't have kids. The apartment is owned by his family and I don't think I deserve a portion of it, but I also hope that he wouldn't make claims on a condo I purchased after getting married.

Can you explain the importance of "Do not move out?"

What did you end up doing? Curious because I can relate to your situation

Is it possible that she changed her mind over time? Why don't you buy her flowers once and go from there?

I only read the headline - I tried reading the rest but you sound a bit whiny, especially for a guy. But to answer your question, yes, I don't talk about my spouse's actions and behaviors to protect both my spouse's and our reputations. For example, instead of filing a divorce based on ground (that would then become part of the court record), I'm filing for a no-fault divorce which I know will take longer but - provided my spouse doesn't change their mind and decide to screw me half-way through …

you can hold these views, but it seems that you’re still hurting a bit (i mean aren’t we all to some extent?) and extrapolating a bad experience with one women to make assumptions about future women you can meet. i’m guilty of that too sometimes but i try not to let my divorce experience get me too bitter in the long run or be the sole driver of my views on life and relationships. if you don’t intentionally autocorrect, you’re basically robbing the rest of YOUR life from an opportunity to fall i…

“ALL women” 👍 Also: 1. if a woman feels secure in a relationship, she’s not incentivized to think of a backup plan and will most likely not have one i don’t think i’m an exception, but when i was deciding to divorce i was deciding to divorce the man not switching to my backup plan, whatever that’s be. i literally asked myself “assume for whatever reason you won’t be able to form another meaningful relationship and you’ll be single single for the reset of your life - if that’s the case would you …

You’re hurting and engaging in meaningless pursuits to forget about your pain. More self-reflection needed.

I’m going through the exact same situation, except that genders are reversed (husband stopped working to discourage me from divorcing him because that’d require me to pay him a significant alimony). I think there’s a concept of imputed income that can be applied here. But he’s an attorney and he’s also saying that he’s going to go on disability because then they can’t impute his income. I’m still trying to figure out the solution to all of this, but sadly the best bet is hoping for a moment/day/…

i think you’re getting screwed, have you tried offering her a one-time payment to have her waive alimony?

i may end up doing a consult but me getting an attorney would definitely turn it from amicable to not lol

If 5'7'' and 110 lbs is "fat" these days then there's no hope for the rest of us :)
