I’m in NC and going through a similar situation. We used a mediator to get everything in writing for only 2k (way cheaper than lawyers) but it was all things that we had to agree to and just have them put it in writing.

I was/am in a similar situation. I started drinking too much and became a lot more depressed then I realized. I stopped drinking a few months back and my clarity, confidence, physique, etc are all coming back. I don’t know if my wife will come back, but quitting drinking has been the best change for my life.

My drinking led me to my current situation: Wife asking for separation and me moving out of the house. I started going to AA a few months ago, and a few guys have really similar situations. I am going tonight to a men’s group- half of it is support for drinking, the other half is marriage/relationship support.

I am going through the same exact thing. We are starting separation and I am seeing my whole life change. We have a 4 year old who I love so I have to stay around the area, but looking at renting a place, expenses, unwinding all our shared accounts, and then being a single dad, dating again, the embarrassment of being divorced, etc. I am so overwhelmed. I can’t say I have good advice, but I am here going through it along side you brother.

Treat your self and make a good meal that you can use as leftovers all week. It’s cost efficient, healthy and learning to cook is a great life skill.

Practice dishes with family and friends to make for future dates. Instead of going out to it you can make a chicken parmigiana at home in 45 minutes and for 10$

Anyone know an attorney in Charlotte, NC? Any suggestions for finding one besides top google review and the humiliation of asking on Facebook so everyone knows we are getting divorced (I’m too private to do this)

Thank you and yes, it has been a sad/depressing/life changing realization, but in a way it is a weight lifted. What would an appropriate consultation fee be?

Thank you so much for the advice and personal story. It’s so much to deal with at once so I really appreciate your response.

I am a 35 year old who is likely heading for divorce. After a few months of counseling it seems like divorce is inevitable. We make similar salaries 75-100k. Currently have a mortgage on a house we live in. Also have a 3.5 year old daughter. Any advice on what steps, who to contact about visitation for my daughter, splitting assets, help in general. I’m lost and looking for any help

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
