I hate that almost all new sci fi is based on young adult (teen female) novels. Everything wants to be the next Hunger Games or Twilight or Harry Potter.
Yup, some here just hate women shown in a positive light at all (they are the stereotype), I like a strong woman who fits the story and is well written.
The new Trek isn't that bad. Yeah the female lead is annoying, but I personally think that is a function of the way she is written, I liked her in The Walking Dead. Yeah, but the whole point of Annihilation was they were all "Self Destructive". That should actually be a really popular movie here. (Actually the point was all humans are self destructive, but they used all women to demonstrate it)
