Yeah I think if not automatically kill then at least discredit other testimony. Part of the reason he only got partial is bc he was having trouble holding down a job... neither of them is really that great of a person, he has a lot of anger problems

This is a good point although-- won't most of the fathers with unwanted children have already left the marriage? That's what my dad did. Having kids around is not a walk in the park especially if you're not attached to them.

In my experience at least this isn't true... my aunt took my uncle to court over custody and alleged he diddled the kids and they threw it out. He got partial custody, for what that's worth.

I'm sorry, but that seems like speculation. What's more, it appears that the gentlemen involved in the video series kickstarter have their own webpage with updates to the project. *edit I'm not a backer, so I can't tell if that's the correct page. It's possible that that's the page for a different project, I'm a little confused by the conversation over in r/gaming. I'm also not downvoting you. This seems like a hot topic so I guess there is bleed over from other subs.

Well, I guess I'll prepare for downvotes, because I'm going to sign it. I realize I'm in the minority here as I'm pro-mens rights but not against feminism, but I have met a few others like myself and I think we deserve a voice too. The more that we make it clear to representatives like this clown that they can't use that kind of dated, anti-male language, the better for all involved.

I am pretty sure most prisons are hell holes. They are unfortunately one of the last places to receive notice and proper regulation - let alone protection for the prisoners - because most people seem to assume that the prisoners "deserve it" somehow. NOBODY deserves this.

No, not really. Go post this thread on ANY of the feminist subs in reddit, and I'll bet you a year of reddit gold that none of the (upvoted) comments say that this wasn't rape. Seriously. Men's rights is incredibly important in getting rapes like the article above recognized and heard, yet this subreddit constantly turns it into an us v. them situation when it largely isn't.

This is a really interesting topic and I'm sorry not to see it getting a little more discussion here besides "women kill people too." Obviously they do. But as far as I'm concerned, it's absolutely a men's mental health issue, at least to some degree. Isn't it clear that at least in the US men are discouraged from being open and upfront about our feelings? Haven't we all been told to "man up" and stop expressing ourselves at some time or another? Thank you. Thoughtful comments like this make me hopeful for the future of men's rights. I really want to be able to present MRM as a positive, supportive group and it's hard to do that with sites like AVFM trumpeting this frustrating and ineffectual message.

Hmm, there's some spurious assertions going on there, e.g. all commercial child porn websites had been successfully shut down. Child abuse hysteria is a horrible problem but we're not going to get anywhere with sketchy claims, particularly on such a hotbutton issue.

Well, partly, but I also think that most of the time (for example with "workers") the terminology has gotten so far locked into our society that it doesn't even register as an issue. It's not a deliberate choice, it's more like linguistic ignorance with really bad results. FWIW some politically correct language actually tries to correct this (e.g. "workpeople" or other such open-gender terms) but often sounds too pretentious to actually use in daily life.

Was there a comment you wanted me to read? Your link led me to your submitted list which is generally not in the feminist reddits. And I agree that a lot of your points are reasonable, they're just couched in such a way that they're very likely to piss of a group of people who as far as I can tell are already sort of gunshy from the whole "girls on the internet" thing. Not that there aren't a lot of complete idiots in the mix.

I suspect this is because our society continues to perpetuate the myth that all men are big, strong and impervious while women are weak and pathetic. Abusive women then feel like they have a free pass to abuse, since they're invisible, by our current standards they can't even exist.

I don't think you can expect people to give you the benefit of the doubt, particularly on the internet, if you go in with your guns a-blazing. Eh, I've been there. There are some nutty people, but there are plenty of nutty people here in MR too. Frankly I don't really feel threatened by them. I didn't misrepresent what you said, I just paraphrased it. You did not suggest that your conclusions were based on anything else but this single experience. Now you've clarified that. You also clarified it by editing your original post so that what I said doesn't make as much sense any more... I find that to be a little underhanded.
