Fuck that. Use as much force as is necessary to immediately stop any attack. Doesn’t matter who it is, defend yourself by removing the threat. If a guy is swinging a bat at you, if a woman is charging at you, if a person is attacking you, do what you can to either remove yourself from the situation or stop the threat. I agree that what this person called toxic masculinity is stupid and shouldn’t be gendered. They are traits that people associate with masculinity, but that’s because they’ve been told that men are bad people naturally, not because they’ve actually seen this behavior more in men than women. But the reply, kind of veers off from the topic. In the nice comfortable definition of wanting equal treatment between the sexes, I’d say that I’m a feminist. In being against what I consider are heavy-handed and aggressive measures by people in the modern feminist movement to deny equal rights to men and push a narrative of victimhood to further empower themselves and socially shame those they disagree with, I’d say I’m an anti-feminist. So I just left a response to another comment detailing most of my thoughts about this, so I will try not to repeat myself, but I had one other thought I wanted to bring up. The way you worded this post... you used several of these “now hear me out”, “before you just x off this and forget about it”, “we’re actually pretty similar”, “believe it or not”, these phrases that tell us that you think we don’t think these already. Unfortunately, it’s not always about numbers. In some instances it’s a matter of perception. “Men’s rights activist” has negative connotations and it’s not really fair the way that happened, but “feminist” literally can’t be unlinked from the images of women angrily shouting at anyone and everyone for a laundry list of things blown way out of proportion. So then how is this a men’s rights issue? Yes it’s all men, but there are 0 women who were convicted of a crime with a death penalty. That’s not sexism, it’s just a small number of total criminal convictions who all happened to be men

With such a small sample size... I wouldn’t immediately jump to discrimination. I haven’t looked into it at all, but like, have there been other people who’ve been convicted of the same crimes who didn’t get the death sentence?

I guess the distinctions are... 1) is the only thing they’re doing in exchange for this money sex? 2) is the only factor here who earns less money? What if there’s no sex involved at all in the relationship? 3) do you have any take on people loving each other and marrying because of that instead of for financial gain?

I don’t think that’s what this study says. For example The participants tended choose more modest outfits when attending an all-female gathering compared to gatherings with both men and women. This tendency was exaggerated among women who rated themselves as more physically attractive. That doesn’t sound like women become hostile when other women dress to impress men. It sounds more like women get hostile when they’re around women they deem more attractive than themselves.

Loads of gay men are against mainstream feminist rhetoric. I can’t talk for other groups because I’m not part of those, but most of the time a gay man won’t bring it up because it’s not relevant. I still get jailed twice as long because I’m a man. Being gay doesn’t affect that issue.
