I don’t think it’s fair to begin with to define a father as selfish or not family oriented simply because he doesn’t take as much parental leave. - In many places, paternity leave is substantially shorter than maternity leave, if it’s offered at all. - Even where paid leave programs exist, such as in Washington State, they often replace only a portion of income and are capped. With a new baby comes increased expenses, and taking less leave can be a practical financial decision rather than selfis…

And they wonder why some men are moving away from left-wing movements because they see an obvious double standard in how prejudice against men is treated. It always has to be so hyperbolic. Yes, misogyny and sexism against women have historically been more widespread and institutionally powerful than misandry. However, that does not mean prejudice against men is uncommon, acceptable, or harmless. Nor does it justify making assumptions about individual men based solely on their sex. But I doubt t…

There’s no such thing as “positive” or “toxic” masculinity. There are just people who shame men for not fitting their preferred version of masculinity, and people who accept that masculinity can take many forms as long as it’s not harming others. That’s why I don’t buy the idea that Hasan is somehow the opposite of Andrew Tate when it comes to sexuality. A lot of the underlying values are still the same as exemplified in that rant alone: Your worth as a man is tied to sexual success. Being a vir…

Anyone: Critiques the left. You: Let me assume your political identity instead of responding to the criticism so I can rant and deflect by prescribing you conservative leanings and all subsequent beliefs to destroy the character I just made up to feel smart.

The left is like this with a lot of their “principles.” It just goes out the window. Reddit leftist are sexist, body shaming, kink shaming, homophobic, and/or racist, when the target is even slightly perceived as right-leaning.

What you’re describing is a overfunctioner-underfunctioner relationship. It’s a form of codependency where the overfunctioner often gains a sense of control by being the "rescuer," while the underfunctioner becomes accustomed to being taken care of. It’s often get labeled as “weaponized incompetence,” but the reality is the overfunctioner doesn’t want relinquish control, not allowing the dynamic to change. The overfunctioner may believe things will fall apart if they stop managing everything, ma…

I’m with you. But, I don’t think it’s fair to pin the blame on women for the imbalance. It’s more of a societal dynamic, both men and women tend to absorb the idea that part of a man’s value comes from whether he can secure a partner. That underlying expectation shapes how people perceive men swearing off relationships. For women, society frames it as she could have a partner, but doesn’t. For men, society frames it as he cannot find a partner, and therefore he doesn’t. The goal is to align them…

I don’t experience it myself, but like anything else, I don’t discount it just because I don’t experience it. I could see it as my reality if I ever moved, but I’ve built my community over a decade. It took a lot of work. I’m disappointed how people who associate themselves with the party of “love” and “empathy” are blatantly selective with their empathy. That’s not how that works. But, that’s the acceptable viewpoint.

Yeah, I definitely won’t defend those kinds of comments. I don’t understand why people need to measure and compete the ways society has failed them. We need to empathize with each other’s problems. We don’t need to minimize women’s issues to address men’s issues. And we need to minimize men’s issues to address women’s issues.

I’m not sure. But, name calling is a deflection when one can’t or won’t argue in good faith. Not sure if calling someone out on their laziness or fallacy will make them rethink their position or argue in good faith.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
