Right, but is there is more misery and pain then there is pleasure, then if it is our interest to reduce pain increase pleasure, reducing pain takes priority since it is the larger of the two and that doesn't lead to any healthy conclusions. If it we're the other way around I'd agree, though. Your second point is valid and that's what I've been doing and holding on for.
