CMV: Men as a whole do not "gatekeep relationships", and it's not difficult for women to find men willing to have a relationshipThat's not what the data shows though. Men have been shown time and time again to want relationships more than women. They report this themselves. | /r/PurplePillDebate | 03/01/24 08:34 PM
CMV: Men as a whole do not "gatekeep relationships", and it's not difficult for women to find men willing to have a relationshipMen report wanting relationships and marriage more than women do now. That's what most of the data shows. So really this argument is based on old views from when women needed relationships to survive. Now that they don't need men, they want relationships less. That's why you hear about the "lonely male" epidemic and not the "lonely female" epidemic. Women are fine with their friends. Men are the ones who want relationships with women more than women want them with men. | /r/PurplePillDebate | 03/01/24 08:33 PM
CMV: Men as a whole do not "gatekeep relationships", and it's not difficult for women to find men willing to have a relationshipWell then why are you guys speaking in absolutes in regards to a minority? That's a dumb move so no shit people are gonna misunderstand. | /r/PurplePillDebate | 03/01/24 08:31 PM
CMV: Men as a whole do not "gatekeep relationships", and it's not difficult for women to find men willing to have a relationshipA 7 isn't a Stacy. Apparently women did evolve to be more attractive than men though. So on a regular human attractive scale with both sexes women are slightly above men. | /r/PurplePillDebate | 03/01/24 08:29 PM
CMV: Men as a whole do not "gatekeep relationships", and it's not difficult for women to find men willing to have a relationshipMen didn't gatekeep them in earlier times either. Most people were either in arranged marriages or didn't marry for love but convenience. | /r/PurplePillDebate | 03/01/24 08:28 PM
CMV: Men as a whole do not "gatekeep relationships", and it's not difficult for women to find men willing to have a relationshipSo thats you asking women to start a relationship. Meaning it's up to the woman to decide. Just like marriage. Women are the ones who end most marriages so I don't see how that makes men the gatekeepers of relationships. Men ask, women answer. You don't have to ask if you're in the position to gatekeep. | /r/PurplePillDebate | 03/01/24 08:22 PM
CMV: Men as a whole do not "gatekeep relationships", and it's not difficult for women to find men willing to have a relationshipAnd new research finds half of hunters and trappers were women, so women hunted and did most of the foraging. They looked over the DNA of ancient remains they had for decades that were automatically assumed to be male just because they were hunters. Turns out sexism covered up a lot of history and prehistory. | /r/PurplePillDebate | 03/01/24 08:20 PM
Where does the idea of "men are the gatekeepers of commitment" come from?I have seen some nasty, and I mean nasty responses from people witnessing women ask men out. Typically marriage proposals though but it is far from socially acceptable for women to ask. It's seen as shameful and desperate so women try not to do it. Because who the hell wants to be seen as desperate | /r/PurplePillDebate | 03/01/24 08:15 PM
Where does the idea of "men are the gatekeepers of commitment" come from?Fertility in women lasts way longer than originally thought. The real dip doesn't occur until after 40-45. Before then most women will still get pregnant when trying and the risks are just as small for fetal issues as it is for older men with their aged, mutated sperm. So most women do have time. It's not like it takes a decade to form a good relationship with someone. | /r/PurplePillDebate | 03/01/24 08:13 PM
Where does the idea of "men are the gatekeepers of commitment" come from?We COULD have it all if men stepped up. But currently, husbands have more free time than women and do less house, pet, child, and elderly care as well as get less education and volunteer less. So that leaves little for women. Hell even yard work now is basically gender neutral and women even arrangement for car and house repairs more than men. What tf are men doing? If they did more everyone could have a little slice of it all. | /r/PurplePillDebate | 03/01/24 08:11 PM
Where does the idea of "men are the gatekeepers of commitment" come from?Men typically report wanting relationship and marriage more than women though. So I don't see how men can be the gatekeepers of something they want more from women. And not really, now women have kids around 30. I think the newest study just showed it jumped up again. And considering men tend to be like 1-4 years older than their partner, hardly seems that way to me. | /r/PurplePillDebate | 03/01/24 08:08 PM
