One can be anti war (unless to defend one's homeland from invader) and still adhere to a manliness like described from OP. Muhammad Ali was convicted to go to prison instead of being drafted. That was a heroic thing to do. It was self sacrifice for a righteous cause. Also, this is one version of masculinity. It doesn't have to be imposed on others.
